Akon's sophomore set Konvicted has officially been certified platinum by the RIAA after only five weeks on the Billboard Charts.

Led by singles "Smack That" featuring Eminem and the Snoop Dogg assisted "I Wanna Love You," Konvicted debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts in late November '06. The CD has since regained its peak position and has remained there for the past three weeks.

As previously reported on SOHH, the Grammy nominated singer/producer, who has recently guested on tracks with Rick Ross, Obie Trice, India.Arie, Gwen Stefani and Usher's boy band, One Chance, is slated to work on the highly anticipated comeback projects of both Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. He is also working on a CD in the same vein as Jay-Z and R. Kelly's Best of Both Worlds with Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy.

Thats good for him but I don't like akon. He is too r and b for me. He is cool when he has rap features though with snoop dogg, eminem, or obie trice though.

I like hip hop^ If i want to listen to a good voice I will listen to beyonce, mariah carey, and other people. Akon is a singer. I like hip hop that is all I'm saying.
