Exclusive J Dilla Kicks Get Auctioned Off, Proceeds Go To Charity

A customized pair of Adidas bearing the likeness of late producer extraordinaire J Dilla is currently being auctioned off on EBAY.

The one-of-a-kind shoe was created by Dassler Rebellion for an album release party for J Dilla's posthumous album, The Shining, which was held in Pittsburgh on August 19.

DJ Big Phil, who is credited with coming up with the idea and concept for the shoe, originally wanted the sneaks for himself but later felt that the money raised from an EBAY auction would be put to better use by the J Dilla Foundation.

Dilla died earlier this year from complications from Lupus, an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own cells and tissues.

The J Dilla Foundation was started in May of 2006 by Dilla's mother, Maureen Yancey, to keep the legacy of the legendary beat maker alive, while also raising funds for Lupus research and arts training for under privileged children.

The original bid for the shoe, which was put up for auction on Tuesday, August 22nd started out at $200. Currently the exclusive kicks go for $760. The size 10 "Stan Smith" Adidas are one of a kind and will never be reproduced again by Dassler Rebellion.

The winner of the EBAY auction will also receive a J Dilla poster and sticker along with the customized kicks. The auction will last until August 29th.

He was part of a Legendary production team called The Ummah, produced hits for A Tribe Called Quest, Busta, THe Pharcyde etc. He also formed the group Slum Village out of Detroit, hes most recent stuff was on the stones throw label where he worked with Madlib to put out the album Jaylib, this is just a short insight the man was a musical genius, get your hip hop knowledge up youngin!!!
