BET VJ Mad Linx To Host Pre-Us Open Tournament Activities

BET VJ, Mad Linx, has been tapped to play host for the 2006 US Open Tournament's pre-tournament celebration, The Annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on Saturday (August 26).

The Annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day held annually as a summer highlight, attracting families who come to enjoy tennis, music and more. Mad Linx, who is the host of BET's top-rated daily show "Rap City," is excited about being a part of the US Open, because of his background in the sport.

Although the DJ -- who hails from Queens, New York -- is an international DJ and recognized personality, tennis has always been a part of his life. In fact, for several years while based in Tampa, Flordia, Mad Linx taught tennis at various country clubs and to city youth.

"I have been playing tennis since 1989," said Mad Linx in a statement. "I still follow the players on the circuit as closely as I can and I play every chance I get. My tennis racket is never far from my reach."

Arthur Ashe Kids' Day honors tennis legend Arthur Ashe, and continues his mission of using tennis as a means to instill in kids the values of humanitarianism, leadership and academic excellence. The pre-US Open day introduces children of all ages to the sport of tennis while bringing families together for a fun, interactive experience.

A portion of the proceeds from Arthur Ashe Kids' Day benefit the USA Tennis NJTL (National Junior Tennis League), which was established by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder in 1969. USA Tennis NJTL is a community-driven program supported by the USTA, that significantly impacts the lives of America's youth, helping to develop the character of young people through tennis and to emphasize the ideals and life of Arthur Ashe.

"It is an honor for me to take part in this year's Arthur Ashe Kids' Day," said the BET VJ. "Not only does it celebrate one of tennis' greatest players, but it also encourages the next generation of players."

The Arthur Ashe Kids' Day festivities begin at 10 a.m. on August 26, with shows beginning at 1 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center Grounds, Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, New York.
