After initial speculation and a confirmation by Jay-Z regarding an "Empire State of Mind" performance at tomorrow's World Series Game 1, new reports claim the rapper's set may be called off.
New reports claim Jay is scheduled to also perform in Ohio tomorrow. Originally, Jay-Z was said to be doing both performances- Taking the field at the World Series and then flying a private jet from NYC to Columbus in time to take the stage but that plan has changed. Local online publication "The Lantern" spoke directly with John Vlautin from Live Nation Worldwide, Inc., the company representing Jay-Z. Vlautin told the website that Jay-Z will be performing in Columbus on Wednesday. UPDATE: The World Series performance featuring Jay-Z and Alicia Keys has been rescheduled to take place in Thursday's pre-game ceremonies, which airs on FOX starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The performance was changed due to the forecast for inclement weather for Wednesday, October 28. Staging for the performance could adversely impact the field if it is wet, creating damaged and unsafe playing conditions. (Rap Radar) According to a Live Nation representative, Hov will reportedly perform at the World Series on Thursday. UPDATE: At 5:30 p.m. John Vlautin from Live Nation Worldwide, Inc., the company representing Jay-Z, told The Lantern that Jay-Z will be performing at the Schottenstein Center and that he will perform in New York on Thursday, depending on the weather. "He will be there in Columbus," Vlautin said. (Miss Info TV) The World Series, which places the New York Yankees versus the Philadelphia Phillies, will kick-off tomorrow evening from the Big Apple. Late Tuesday afternoon, Jay-Z's Web site said that he will perform, as scheduled, at the World Series. The first pitch between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies is scheduled for 7:57 p.m. According to the staff at the Schottenstein Center, Jay-Z is going to perform in Columbus and is skipping the World Series. (10 TV News) Hov expressed his excitement for the performance and loyalty to the Yankees this week. "The Yankees are fantastic," Hov said in an interview. "I'm from Brooklyn, Brooklyn-born, New York City so I grew up a Yankee and thank God for making me a Yankee. [laughs] 'Thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee.' Once in a lifetime experience, for me, growing up a Yankee fan so to be on the field and perform and specifically the song in New York is tailor-made for the city. Just the timing of it all worked out so." (Associated Press) |
