Raekwon Discusses Joe Budden Dispute, "It Could Have Been Worse"

Raekwon has reflected on his summer dispute with Joe Budden, which led to a physical confrontation last month, and said their peaceful outcome could have taken a more serious route.

While not regretting his words and actions towards Budden, the Chef did explain the reasons behind wanting to end his dispute.

"I felt that, number one for me, I went somewhere where I should have been a little bit more smarter," Raekwon explained in an interview. "But being that I'm a street dude, I let that get the best of me. I don't regret far as whatever happened, I just regret putting myself in that situation where everybody is looking at me like I'm a negative fella and I'm promoting negativity being a grown man. That's not my thing though. I'm a man of principles and I'm a man of respect and that's all I was demanding at that time. Whatever happened, he know like I know he deserved it and it could have been worse. With me to look at the future of where I'm going, I have something to live for, I'm a business man. I don't have time to be out here wildin' because that affects my life -- ten years ago, I would have loved all that energy. Now it's like, I have business to do." (Fly. Style. Life)

In addition to upholding the peace truce, Raekwon previously broke down why he decided to fall back on Budden during a Canada concert last month.

"First and foremost, what I would like to say, about that Joe Budden sh*t, we got the tape n*gga," Raekwon told a Toronto crowd. "Other than that, Raekwon loves you...I am a hundred percent street n*gga still, we don't get on camera and do that. Now my thing is this, I got love for Slaughterhouse. I like Slaughterhouse, them n*ggas already made it clear they have a lot of respect for Wu-Tang, for myself, this has never ever been a Wu-Tang versus Slaughterhouse thing -- This is about a kid who gets off on doing blogs. My thing is this, I'm a business man, I'm here to make money, take care of my family and keep as many people safe and sound as possible. We not gonna take it there 'cause that's little sh*t? we are grown men. I will never jump out the window to sacrifice the situation with my family for something that ain't worth it. I don't want nobody to hurt that man or do anything to him because I'm so known in so many different places, that's the easiest sh*t in the world? I don't want that. Raekwon recently spoke with radio personality Charlamagne about his stance on the Budden dispute.

"September 8th, I love Joe Budden," Raekwon joking said in an interview. "My thing is this, it's like, enough is enough. You know what I mean? Enough is enough. I'm on the road swallowing a lot you know, 'cause I'm a business man. I'm really trying to escape that negativity world. Because at the end of the day I'ma lose. I got children. I got family. You know what I mean? And it's like, I'm the type of dude that I don't get no points off of punching no little dude. I got love for him..." (100.3 The Beat)

In addition to MC Shan, Budden has recently been called out by former The Source co-owner Benzino.

"I think [Slaughterhouse] is mad overrated, real talk," Zino said in an interview. "Yeah, them n*ggas is mad overrated yo, for real. I don't know what all the hype about them is. And I knew Tahiry was gonna leave Joe Buddens, you blog too much homie. You blog too much, stop blogging man and watch out [for] where your girl's at, man. You blog too much homie. Them n*ggas is overrated. I'm not f*cking with Slaughterhouse, f*ck them n*ggas. F*ck Royce Da 5'9, [it began] with some sh*t about we trying to interview Slaughterhouse and they don't want to give us an interview because of Kim 'Fat B*tch' O'Sorry H*e is wife to the manager of Royce Da 5'9 and they don't want to give us an interview so like f*ck them n*ggas man.
