50 Cent Grips Up For More "Warfare"

50 Cent has reportedly been tagged to appear in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 video game which is slated to hit stores this fall.

While details regarding how large of a role he will play in the project are still being kept under wraps, early reports claim he has decided to lend his voice.

50 Cent visited Infinity Ward this month. They are the creators of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This game is slated to be the biggest game release ever on 11-10-09. 50 was cast as The Multi-Player Voice. Benji & Joel Madden of Good Charlotte were there too to check out the game and tour the company. 50, Benji & Joel teamed up to play MW2 on Xbox 360 against the guys at Infinity Ward. (This Is 50)

Developer Infinity Ward also confirmed the rapper's participation?in the project.

50 will be "one of many squad voices" to feature in the multi-player and Special Ops modes in Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling told Kotaku. The rapper will be voicing certain phrases such as 'Reloading,' 'Watch your fire,' 'I'm down, get me up!' and 'Tango Down!' says Bowling. "He is one of quite a few casual cameos in the game, none of which I can name at this point," Bowling says. (Video Games Republic)

Fif's latest game, Blood on the Sand, made headlines earlier this year after failing to secure the same success of his debut video game, Bulletproof.

Blood on the Sand has sold an estimated 56,000 copies in the United States between its February launch and early April. In its first two months of release in the fall of 2005, Bulletproof - Blood on the Sand's prequel, sold 681,000 copies, with life-to-date sales of 1,123,000 units. Kotaku takes a look at a few more reasons why the game sold so low, and even mentions that maybe Activision's decision to sell of the title might have been a pretty smart move after all. Various explanations for the game's retail struggles also emerged.

It was obvious that something was wrong with Blood on the Sand's sales when THQ failed to hype the game's performance in its earnings report earlier this week. 50 Cent may not be as popular as he was in the middle of the decade, but he's by no means faded to obscurity. A drop-off this steep outpaces even the decline in the rapper's recent album sales. His 2005 album The Massacre sold 1.14 million copies in its first week, according to SoundScan, the group that tracks music sales in the U.S. His 2007 follow-up, Curtis, sold 691,000 units in its first week, a big decline, but not a calamity. There were stark differences between the two games. Bulletproof came out in the fall season and put 50 in an urban setting that was supposed to be inspired by what he raps about. Blood on the Sand was out in the winter and was more exotic, transporting 50 to a pseudo-Iraq where he needed to reclaim a stolen jeweled skull. Both games were released against tough competition. (Kotaku)

Modern Wafare 2 is slated to hit retailers Tuesday, November 10th.
