Maino Reacts To 18K First Week Sales, "I'm Still Bringing A Platinum Plaque Back To Brooklyn"

Rap newcomer Maino has shared his reaction to selling just under 20,000 copies of his debut album If Tomorrow Comes... in its first week and broke down his record sales' relevance.

The Brooklyn, New York-based emcee placed emphasis on his "All of the Above" single's sales.

"First off u can't measure me by wut I didn't sell, bcause just afew yrs ago I was an inmate," Maino wrote via Twitter. "So that's 18000 people riding wit me. Plus 'all the above' is almost a million sold so I'm still bringing a Platinum plaque back to Brookiyn! Unstoppable!!! Let's get it!" (Maino's Twitter)

Maino's debut album landed within Billboard's Top 50 this week.

"Hi Hater" hitmaker Maino's long-awaited If Tomorrow Comes... album also debuted this week resting at No. 25. With a week under his belt, the Brooklyn, New York-bred emcee's debut has sold 18,300 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)

He previously spoke with SOHH about his upcoming music video with Swizz Beatz called "Million Bucks" and its concept.

"It was crazy," he explained. "When Swizz first played it for me I said, 'Come on Swizz, I don't got a million dollars man.' He said, 'Nah, but I got a million dollars.' And we laughed. I found a way to be me without trying to look like I was more rich than what I was portraying. I didn't want to come off like I'm more richer than what I really am. It's a song about trying to spread love in the hood and giving back so I made it more or less like that." (SOHH)

Aside from music, the rapper recently hinted at a possible reality show he has in the works.

"It's 90 percent solidified," he said. "This is why I haven't really spoke on it because it's not etched in stone yet. But there's something reality-based and around MTV 'ish. It's about a white dude, he doesn't come from my culture. He doesn't understand the rap game, he doesn't understand what it means to be a rapper everyday. He lives with me and tries to like, understand what goes on in our world...Nothing I do is scripted. So if you see smack somebody then maybe it's really going down." (Shade 45 Lip Service)

It should of done better and would of if it wasn't for the outta control bootlegging.Its a hot album Maino really stepped it up cause Hi Hater his first single is the worst track on there for real.Thats real talk if you slept cause of that wack song check it out cause the rest of the album is fire.

18K is better than nothing. I don't think CD sales in general will ever rebound for everyone across the board.

Maino's album was a lot better than I expected it to be, and I'm gonna cop it next time I go to Best Buy. That song "Floating" and "Gangsta" with B.G. are my favorites. "Hi Hater" is still dope as fuck though, they shoulda included the remix for a bonus track.
