Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 recently spoke on his rap group's upcoming self-titled album debut and promised hip-hop fans a return to lyricism.
Click here to find out more! Joined by Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I for their Rock the Bells tour in support of their new LP, the Detroit-based rapper explained what makes his crew different from others. "Slaughterhouse is classic," Royce said in an interview. "It's what you expect from Slaughterhouse and then some. We actually making records. I don't think a lot of people can say that. They're expecting lyrics from the jump. First thing they're gonna want to hear is lyrics. You're going get that front to back. But you're also going to get great songwriting, great song structures, great feel, all the group members show versatility with this album. Everyone just stepped up. I'm really proud of everybody...My dream album is an album that you can combine hip-hop with the streets. It's not too hip-hop. It's not earthy and happy. Then it's street but it's not so, 'Oh my God. I'm gonna kill, kill, kill.' There's still a hip-hop element there." (The Boom Box) Royce recently spoke with SOHH about their delayed debut release. "You still gon' get the music," Royce promised. "It's not like you not gon' hear no Slaughterhouse music until then. We'll still have the single setting up." (SOHH) Crooked I also confirmed with SOHH their release date and why music outweighs profits. "It's in concrete, August 11th," he said. "This is what we need at this time period in hip-hop. This project is what we need. It ain't all about the money. If we doing sh*t for money then I'd probably have a number one ringtone right now. I do it for the love. I do it for the pasion. I do it for the art form. That's something that the fans should appreciate even more, the fact that we are willing to sacrifice the money to come and do a group in this economy and it's four of us. It's not for the money man." (SOHH) The rap group has received both positive and negative feedback from fans and rappers alike including J-Hood. "N*ggas thought I wasn't gon' say nothing, like I wasn't gonna address it," Hood said in an interview. "F*ggot a** H*e Buddens, Joyce Da 5'9 and motherf*cking, what's that n*gga's name? Slanted I, Crooked I, whatever the f*ck your name is my n*gga. Y'all n*ggas are a** my n*gga. Y'all n*ggas are rolling with a n*gga that got a n*gga locked up, got the homie Ransom locked up after he went to your homie's house and smacked the sh*t outta him, he ain't smack the sh*t outta him, his man smacked the sh*t outta him. Next couple days after that the n*gga was locked up. I don't want no beef with y'all n*ggas, you getting n*ggas locked up. Plus y'all n*ggas is 30 plus my n*gga. Old head a** n*ggas. 'Pump Pump Pump It Up,' f*ck outta here...You and your mans talking that Slaughterhouse bullsh*t, get outta here with that." (Major Moves DVD) Slaughterhouse is due in stores Tuesday, August 11th via E1 Music. Source-
