LL Cool J Defends Joe Budden's Rap Rant

LL Cool J Defends Joe Budden's Rap Rant, "Joe Has A Right To Feel How He Feels"

LL Cool J has weighed in on Joe Budden's recent rap rant towards Busta Rhymes and Method Man, and said battling is an aspect of hip-hop which an emcee should outgrow.

The iconic rap battle legend supported Joey's opinions but also said battling emcees should be left behind as the rapper's career progresses.

"Nowadays, [battling] is more about 'Are you making money, are you a businessman,'" LL explained in an interview. "I think the least important thing in hip-hop now is hip-hop. That's probably the least relevant thing. So I think Joe Budden has a right to feel how he feels. I think each individual has to make a decision and stand by that decision. So I can't be mad a Joe for feeling that. I can't be mad at Busta for feeling the way he feels...You can't remain a child forever, we all have to grow up. Michael Jordan is not in the Finals this year, that's just life. We gotta be willing to accept that. Sometimes a part of growing is knowing you'll be criticized for certain things you leave behind. That just comes with the territory. But for me to pretend to be 24 year-old LL Cool J for the rest of my life, that's not." (Global Grind)

Budden released a freestyle record earlier this week which made multiple references to Mef.

"N*ggas is scared of the truth/They doing interludes in every interview talking about how they prepared to shoot/How thoughtful, won't resort to getting near a booth," Joe rappeed. "Thought so, what I do to them is unlawful, boss dude ain't got a higher up to report to, just giving yourself a bad name...Got all them years rapping, nothing else happening/You need a day to day, old heads, with no other way to get paid/They gasping, time-out go take a break from the clay and grab a Gatorade/A bad contract, team can't make a trade/Majors f*ckin' you in the a**/You gonna stay a slave...Sh*t is f*cked up and I blame it on the way it was paved/So I'll chill for the sake of your age/You're great live, but let me know when that stage get appraised." (DJ Green Lantern's OnDaSpot Freestyle)

Busta previously offered his take on Budden's rant.

"I think it was a great disrespect and he might want to get slapped in his face for it," Busta told radio personality Ed Lover last month. "That's just how I feel about it. I'm not saying that to be on no pro-violence thing because that's not where I'm at with it. I still think that there is a fine line between entertainment and being morally and principally disrespectful." (Ed Lover In The Morning)

Joey also addressed both Mef and Busta in an interview earlier this month.

"Everybody took offense," Joe said in an interview. "If a n*gga get offended at me for having an opinion, suck a d*ck...I have faith in my pen game and that's how it should be. If you're a rapper, I can't see how you couldn't have the same attitude...I enjoy being the bad guy in case people haven't noticed. I could give a f*ck. I could give less than a f*ck because I enjoy it. I don't care that n*ggas is mad, I don't care that n*ggas is in an uproar...I'm attacking you? There's nobody else that's popping? I could go diss Kanye West like all these other rap n*ggas be trying to do, I could go diss Jim Jones. I could diss Rick Ross, n*ggas that are active and very very relevant today...Once you go on the air and say he should be smacked for that, by who, exactly? I have a response to him, but my response gets under people's skin. When I talk, it bothers people." (Miss Info)

agree with that, mef and busta hav sort of blown this outta proportion, and Joe was right about most of the things he said, he's better LYRICALLY than Method Man IN THE PRESENT TIME!
Is method a legend?
Undoubtedly
