Irv Gotti Addresses Lloyd's Plea For Freedom, "He Had Creative Freedom To Do Whatever He Wanted"

Murder Inc. head Irv Gotti has addressed Lloyd's request to leave his label and said he's still trying to decide how he should handle Lloyd's contractual obligations.

Irv said he was confused as to why Lloyd wanted to part ways given that the singer was given creative freedom with his last project.

"He is still signed with Murder Inc. and I will make a decision shortly on what I am gonna do with him," Gotti wrote in a statement. "His last record didn't sell well at all. And, once again, he had his CREATIVE freedom to do whatever he wanted to do. But for some reason the people did not respond to the album or to him. But I will decide what I wanna do! As always when it comes to me, it's Murder For Life! And anyone who doesn't wanna be apart of that, I will take into consideration." (Statement)

A press release was sent out earlier this week with Lloyd expressing his displeasure with The Inc.

"I'm ready for a change," Lloyd stated. "There's no bad blood. I just feel I need to take more control over my career and get a fresh start. Hopefully Irv can understand my position." (Ace Showbiz)

Gotti recently announced his plans to end his business ties with Ashanti.

"The relationship has run its course," Gotti explained in an interview. "The chemistry of what's needed -- we're in two totally different places. You're talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest selling debut by a female R&B artist, 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies is not meeting up...I don't think she can win. She needs some guidance with that...But she's not thinking like that. Really, I couldn't tell you what she's thinking. So that relationship has run its course and honestly, I'm gonna just drop her." (MTV)

Similarly, Bow Wow voiced his issues with Columbia Records and made a plea to be released from the label.

"Number one, Columbia has been messin' up since 2004-2005," he explained in a video earlier this month. "I think Columbia's problem is that they don't know how to work with rappers...I'm really the only rapper on that label...My labelmates consist of John Legend who they work extremely well with, Beyonce who they work extremely well with, but when it comes to rappers they're not really a rap label, they don't get it...They're not young, and I'm a young guy but they're not young, so they don't really understand what the young people want. They got Three 6 Mafia, but when is the last time that Three 6 Mafia have put out a successful album? You can't really blame the artists because the label is the energy." (Justin TV)
