Mannie Fresh On Hot Boys Reunion, "It's Gotta Be Right"

Former Cash Money Records producer Mannie Fresh has revealed details on the upcoming Hot Boys reunion citing the importance of the group's collaboration album production.

Fresh detailed why their renowned "sound" is vital for the project.

"I think we close to finishing [the deal]," Mannie said in an interview. "My thing is, I'm bent on it being a classic. Like, what can I do to make this great? The Hot Boys got a sound, without that sound, what is it worth? I still think these dudes are great rappers and I still think they on their game, but it gotta be something like... I ain't saying that we gotta take our time because that ain't never been us, but it's gotta be right." (Vibe)

Former Hot Boys member B.G. recently addressed the long-awaited collaboration album and Lil Wayne's influence on getting the team back together.

"It's gonna be all the original members, it's gonna be me, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Turk is supposed to be coming home March 16th," B.G. said in an interview. "We're gonna do it regardless because the streets keep asking for it...Mannie Fresh created the Hot Boys sound; it's only right that Mannie Fresh gives us that heat...Wayne made the deal; he came to us. He had a deal for a soundtrack, and he wanted to make it a Hot Boys soundtrack. He reached out to me and Juvenile...Before the reunion album, we're gonna' do an album which is inspired by a motion picture." (Word of South)

Turk previously told SOHH about the group's reunion.

"As far as the Hot Boys being broken up for a minute, it was nothing more than a family fallout," Turk wrote in a 2007 statement. "Lil Wayne, B.G. and Juvie are my brothers for real. Everything is back to the way things should be right now and that I look forward to joining the group and being heavily involved in the forthcoming Hot Boys reunion project. Expect this album to go down as a classic in hip-hop history." (SOHH)

In addition to re-joining the group, Weezy is working on additonal projects.

Wayne is putting together Tha Carter IV, his rock album Rebirth, the Hot Boys reunion LP and an album featuring all the artists on his Young Money label, including Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Kid Kid and Nicki Minaj. (MTV News)
