Saigon On Album Delay, "Hip-Hop Is Going Through A Transitional Phase"
Saigon recently discussed the constant delays of his debut album, citing the current state of hip-hop as the main reason behind the project's release. Breaking down his latest collaboration project, All in a Day's Work, Sai promised his debut would follow soon. "This ain't my real album that everybody is waiting for," Sai clarified, distinguishing this project from his long-awaited Just Blaze-produced project, Greatest Story Never Told. "We're trying to keep it up to par. I don't have a home for it because hip-hop is going through a transitional phase. I put a lot of work into it, so I just don't want to throw it out there and it don't get the support it deserves. I'm just waiting, that's why I did All in a Day's Work." (MTV) Sai recently began a business venture with Amalgam Digital to release his project with Statik Selektah. "Did I sign a traditional recording deal with Amalgam Digital as an artist," he wrote. "The answer is NO... What I AM doing with Amalgam Digital is entering a unique, never been done before business venture where they help market promote and distribute some of my many projects...First of all, Amalgam Digital is NOT a record company but a New Media outfit...They seen my creative vision, believe in my vision and we entered into a non-exclusive partnership that will bring it all to life....I am nobody's artist." (Saigon's MySpace) All In A Days Work was released digitally last month. Fans can expect from the deal is Saigon's collaboration with Statik Selektah, All In a Day's Work, an album that was recorded in a 24 hour period, is set to drop March 17th as a digital-only release. (Hip Hop Stan) He recently ended a rap battle with Joe Budden, which resulted in various diss records and a possible collaboration song. "I wouldn't be against [making a record together], tell you the truth that made me go listen to a lot of Joe's stuff I never heard," Sai said in an interview. "I went back and listened and I was impressed. Son can really spit, for real...My family members were countin' me out." (Angela Yee Shade 45) Source: sohh

it gives us something new to look forward to. and i think it is true that rap is definitely in a phase change period. the 90's was the time of g funk westcoast rap and the grimey new york rap. early 2000's introduced the dirty south sound...and now i feel like its all about making that one hit about drinking, women and/or cars. i think to me that 90's period will go down as the best era.
