Busta Rhymes Talks Break From Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine, "I'm Being Born Again"

Busta Rhymes recently spoke on making Universal Motown his new label home while detailing the overall sound of his forthcoming album, B.O.M.B. (Back On My Bullsh*t).

The "Arab Money" rhyme slinger promised his music would be a return to "substantial hip-hop."

"I'm happy, real happy, about a lot of things," Busta said in an interview. "I'm in a great situation. New label, new money, new excitement, new sound, new album, just new everything. I just feel like I'm being born again or something...The album sounds like the substantial hip-hop that has been missing from the game for a long time...That traditional boom bap - hard kicks, hard snares, solid bass lines, records that sound real melodic because they're very incredibly structured songs, very lyrical records. It's the well-rounded balance of what a real hip-hop album is supposed to feel like." (Boston Herald)

Busta's eighth solo project was recently pushed back roughly two months.

Artwork for Back On My B.S. is now available. Explicit and clean versions of the disc will be available in stores and online May 19th. The new Grand Theft Auto IV Expansion Pack will include two new tracks from Busta Rhymes including his collaboration on "The Conglomerate" featuring Young Jeezy and Jadakiss. The rapper recently dropped the "Arab Money" remix with Diddy, Ron Browz, Swizz Beatz, Akon and Lil' Wayne. (BustaRhymes.com)

Busta's departure from Aftermath/Interscope was reportedly on good terms.

"Me and [Dr.] Dre are still good," Busta told DJ Envy on his "The People's Choice" radio show. "So even though I'm not in business with Aftermath or Interscope, I'm still with Aftermath. Me and Dre are always gonna be good...Big up to Interscope for, you know, giving me the leaked joints and the set-ups." (Hot 97)

If his release date remains, the New York rapper will go head-to-head with labelmate Lil' Wayne's The Rebirth.

Weezy has pushed back the release date of his rock-and-roll LP Rebirth from April 7 to May 19. The video for the album's first single, "Prom Queen," however, has been shot and should be released soon. In addition to Rebirth, Wayne is still working on Tha Carter IV, the Hot Boys reunion LP and an album featuring all the artists on his Young Money label, including Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Kid Kid and Nicki Minaj.
