Diddy Opened His Home To Chris Brown And Rihanna 'As A Friend'

Diddy recently opened his Miami home to Chris Brown and Rihanna to ease their reconciliation following an alleged altercation last month, and the music mogul spoke about the gesture Tuesday (March 10) on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

People.com reports that Diddy appeared uncomfortable when asked about the matter but defended his decision nonetheless. "It was a dark time for them, and I was there as more of a support," he said. "I'm not immersed in [the proceedings]. I'm not going to pass judgment on it. I'm going to be there as a friend."

The pair stayed in Diddy's mansion for a few days before flying to Los Angeles for Brown's court appearance. While at the Miami home, Brown was photographed riding on a jet ski. The pictures had some wondering if the R&B singer understood the gravity of the incident. Even Usher chided Brown over the jet-ski photos, before apologizing for his comments.

Brown and Rihanna's reunion in Miami prompted mixed feelings from their fans. On MTV.com, commenters called Rihanna a "fool" and "dumb" for her decision to make up with Brown. Others, however, called themselves "true fans" and said the singers needed the public's support.

Experts also weighed in on the reunion. Sheryl Cates, CEO of the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline, said she wasn't surprised and called the reconciliation a "normal reaction." She urged caution and said a level of trust appeared to exist between the two if Rihanna is willing to give Brown another chance.

Diddy, for his part, said his motivation was solely as a friend to offer a place for "two people to sit down and talk about a situation they're in.

"It's my house, and I'm allowed to give my house to whoever I want to give my house to," he said to DeGeneres. "I don't cast a stone, cast judgment on anybody. So if friends ask me for a favor, then I'm going to be there for a favor as long as I know the energy of the favor is positive."
