Crooked I Lashes Back At Prodigy, "Fight Me One On One"

After noticing his name negatively questioned in a letter by Prodigy, Crooked I has responded with his own note challenging the incarcerated rapper to a fight upon his release.

The West Coast rapper responded to one half of Mobb Deep in "Letter to Prodigy."

"I read your letter and you disrespectfully mentioned my name," Crooked wrote in a blog entry. "If you don't know why Vibe magazine chose to put me in the Best Rapper Alive issue maybe you should have researched me before you wrote what you wrote. Since you have time on your hands, you should check out week 1 thru 52 of my historical Hip Hop Weekly series. Week 33 was a freestyle over your song 'Get Away' (one of my favorite Mobb Deep songs). All things considered, there is a price for speaking on a real n*gga sideways...Fight me 1 on 1. Nobody else, just you and me. I'll wait for your release date since I don't forget about sh*t. P.S. Crooked's up front reaction was a result of Prodigy's alleged emergence of letters which hit the net this week.

"I was just reading Vibe magazine's 'Best Rapper Alive 2008' article," P reportedly wrote. "Vibe says 920,000 people voted for it. I would personally b*tch slap all 920,000 of these voters if given the opportunity. Who in the f*ck picked Crooked I, Flo Rida and Rich Boy? How did Vibe approve this? In the back of the Vibe, they have a section called '20 Questions,' they actually try to imply that The Game's album LAX is better than 50 Cent's Massacre and Curtis...Basically people, we have a gang of herbs in positions of power." Crooked recently made headlines after rumors spread about him being fatally shot earlier this month.

"Mentally, I'm kinda in a f*cked up place right now but physically I'm good," Crooked said in an interview. "I just wanna let people know I'm good, man...Some crazy sh*t just went on man and I was at the wrong place at the wrong time type of sh*t, you know what I'm saying. Right now, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it, man...When sh*t like that happens, it's better to just leave it where it happened...I don't want to give nobody fame from bringing negativity towards me...God is good and these haters are gonna find that out." Prodigy may not return home for nearly two years as a result of his sentence.

Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars after pleading guilty to a weapons charge dating back to 2006. Authorities say Prodigy was pulled over in downtown Manhattan after he was spotted driving in the opposite direction on a one-way street in an attempt to claim a parking spot. A search of the car turned up an unlicensed .22-caliber pistol. He will begin his sentence January 2008. (Hip Hop Galaxy)

UGK's Bun B recently spoke to SOHH about the issues with rap beefs in today's hip-hop.

"This is rap. We've had beef in rap since the beginning of rap. There are very few of the early artists in the music industry that didn't have some kind of an issue with another artist at some point. As long as nobody gets physically hurt, I don't see why anybody really should have a problem with it. I think everybody will come out of it alright. 50 [Cent] is going to be alright. seriously you know as well as i do that they wont have a 1 on 1. crooked just talkin tough. anyway prodigy didn't say anything that bad for crooked i to start challenging him to a fight. so prodigy doesn't like his music, he should get over it.
prodigy has said things a lot more offensive to jay z, nas and many others but they kept it on wax. no wack letters or fake threats.
