DJ Drama Recruits Heavyweights For "B.I.G. Tribute"

Atlanta's DJ Drama has linked with Diddy, Styles P, Lil' Cease and more for his upcoming tribute mixtape for the late Biggie Smalls.

The forthcoming "Notorious B.I.G. Tribute" project will offer fans Biggie's classics with a slight twist.

In "The NOTORIOUS BIG Tribute" superproducers and remixers Cookin' Soul flip the original samples used in Biggie's classic albums Ready to Die and Life After Death into new beats and feature original appearances from a whole range of well known artists paying their respects doing what they do best, in a celebration of the late great rapper musical legacy. Drama has decided to recruit a wide variety of guest appearances and features.

Styles P, LA the Darkman, Wilie Tha Kid, Uncle Murda, Amanda Diva, Lil' Cease, Diddy, Miss Info, Jean Grae, CL Smooth, Skyzoo, Grafh, Emilio Rojas, Nipsey Hussle, Tek, Freekey Zekey, Jet Ash Lag, Sen City, Shiest Bubz, De la Ghetto and Chaundon. (You Tube)

Along with the mixtape, artists will show their support for Biggie at an upcoming "Dream B.I.G." celebrity auction.

Hosted by renowned artist Marco, the silent auction takes place March 9, 2009 at the Prime Condos. March 9th marks the anniversary of the late Christopher Wallace's death. MarcoArt will donate a unique painting of Wallace ("B.I.G.") for a silent auction, with net proceeds going to Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. (Hip Hop Press)

A number of urban artists and radio personalities are scheduled to appear.

The "Dream B.I.G." event is the first public showing of Marco's pop art masterpiece. Initially, the painting was unveiled at a private screening of the "Notorious" film at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Faith Evans and the cast of the movie signed the painting. Confirmed guests include Russell Simmons, the legendary DJ Scratch, Talib Kweli, David Banner, Cipha Sounds, JoJo Brim, Joe Budden, the "Ed Lover Morning Show," DJ Nickiee and a host of other music industry tastemakers. The event begins at 7 PM and will be hosted by Talia Coles who is a recording artist as well as the co-president of Couture Music. Music will be provided by DJ Kut of 105.1. (1888 Press Release)
