Grammy-winning rapper Common follows Lil Wayne as the latest voice for Gatorade's popular "G" commercials.

The rapper-turned-actor revealed his role in an upcoming advertisement.

"I narrated these different scenarios that happened in football, these NFL moments that were really incredible that happened that I narrated for Gatorade," Common said in an interview. "It's gonna be displayed in the G-Lounge with a photo done by a great artist, SwankOne." (Just Jared)

Gatorade has recently targeted urban artists for their new television ads.

"[G's] the emblem of a warrior, it's the swagger of an athlete, a champion and dynasty," Lil' Wayne says in the commercial. "It's gifted, golden, genuine and glorious. It is a lower-case god. It's the goat. Ha-ha. The greatest of all time." (YouTube)

The company is reportedly aiming for a more stylish look with the "G" series.

"For Gatorade," the company wrote in a statement, "G represents the heart, hustle and soul of athleticism and will become a badge of pride for anyone who sweats." (SOHH)

Common's other ventures include a clothing launch.

He celebrated the release of his new Softwear t-shirt line in New York City December 2008. common has officially joined the celebrity-designer band wagon when he paired up with technology leader Microsoft to create his 80s-inspired designs for true hip-hop heads, hipsters, and the like. Common's Softwear shirts are scheduled for release this spring.
