Soulja Boy To Launch Animated Series, Taps Former "Fresh Prince" Star As Voice

Teen rap star Soulja Boy Tell 'Em announces new online series, "Soulja Boy Tell 'Em: The Animated Series," which is set to begin next month.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Interscope Records will help launch the Southern rapper's online series with three webisodes set to offer a fusion of animation and live action. While details are still scarce, the project's plot will revolve around an animated version of Soulja Boy as he makes his return to high school.

Alfonso Ribiero, most notable as Carlton Banks from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" will portray the cartoon's principal. More characters will be announced via the emcee's next upcoming music video following the release of his new album, iSouljaBoyTellem.

Interscope Records expects to launch the new online series beginning January 2009.

In related news, SOHH recently caught up with Soulja Boy to find out how involved he is with the online world, most notably his gossip generating YouTube videos.

"The stuff that I put on YouTube man, basically it's just like everyday life," Soulja Boy told SOHH. "I keep a camera on me 24/7 so any time I see something that I want to put up or I see something funny or I think that a lot of people would want to see, like me over in Tokyo, the experience when I was in London or the 'Rich N*gga Series' that I got on YouTube."

Soulja Boy also won big at the Online Hip Hop Awards, where he accepted an award for King of the Net. [See Soulja Boy's acceptance speech and other winner announcements here]
