In it’s second week on the charts, Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak officially goes gold with overall sales numbers reaching 593,100. Debuting at number 7 this week is Senegalese crooner Akon, with his third solo effort Freedom. Known for his catchy hip-hop hooks, Akon failed to top the 284,000 first week sales figures of his last album, 2006’s Konvicted. Led by the singles “I’m So Paid” featuring Lil’ Wayne and Young Jeezy and “Right Now (Na Na Na),”Freedom managed to sell 110,600 discs. Ludacris drops to the number 15 spot this week, with his seventh album Theatre of the Mind. After debuting last week with sales figures nearing 280,000, Luda moved 65,300 copies of his disc in his second cycle on the charts. This brings his total numbers to 279,400. Also making his foray onto the charts this week is Southern vet Scarface’s latest effort Emeritus. The rapper’s tenth studio album managed to sell 42,000 copies and land at the number 24 position on the charts. Emeritus is led by the Bilal-assisted single, “Can’t Get Right.” Chi-Town MC Common will make his debut on the charts next week with the release of Universal Mind Control. The rapper is very confident with the album. He recently offering his own personal review of the record giving it a “XXL” rating. Source: xxlmag

110,600 for Akon, damn thats not good..
even though album was nothing special he should've sold more considering his star status..

I can't say I felt he had a big buzz around him.. I hear him on the radio all the time but I can't say I like any of his recent singles. But still, even though his recent singles wasn't so good (for me), I think it's weird considering his previous album was a blockbuster.
