LL Cool J, Public Enemy To Be Inducted To Long Island Music Hall Of Fame
October 15th, 2008 | Author: ------

To be qualified for induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, an artist or group must have been born in Long Island, or have spent a great amount of their career there. Among those already honored are Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Twisted Sister, Barbara Streisand and Queens’ own Run-DMC. In its second annual induction ceremony, the Long Island Hall of Fame will extend its arms towards artists LL Cool J and Public Enemy who will be honored for their contributions to Long Island, and its music.

Several legendary Hip Hop artists are scheduled as presenters for the event. Grandmaster Flash is listed to honor LL Cool J, whose 20+ years in the Hip Hop arena have proved him to be one of the very few artists to sustain a long and successful recording career. Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC is scheduled to induct Public Enemy whose record “Fight the Power,” was just recently voted the Number 1 record in Vh1’s 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs poll [click to read].

The event which will also feature appearances by Kurtis Blow and, of course, honoree Chuck D, is slated to acknowledge the accomplishments of artists Mariah Carey, The Ramones, Neil Diamond, Simon and Garfunkel, as well as other Long Island natives.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame induction is scheduled for October 30, at 7pm.
