Ya Boy Tells How The West Was Won
Published: Tuesday - October 14, 2008 Ya BoyAs the mythical Phoenix rises from the ashes, today, marks the resurrection of the West Coast with the release of Ya Boy's latest street album, Kush 2009. The tape, hosted by longtime collaborator, Digital Product, features inspired tracks from Dr. Dre's critically acclaimed works, The Chronic and 2001. With the drop of his latest mixtape, the former protege of Hip-Hop heavyweight, The Game, hopes to revitalizes the sound and force that once put the West Coast on the map. There is no doubt that the Bay Area bred lyricist, Ya Boy, has one of the strongest and largest buzzes on the West Coast. From his most recently released mixtape, The Bay Area Bully and Western Hospitality Vol. 10 which featured a slew of MCs including Bishop Lamont, G. Malone, Cam'ron and Lil Wayne to name a few, the streets are calling Kush 2009 a "mixtape masterpiece". The album's opening track, Let Me In, where Ya Boy rides over a revamped Ring Ding Dong expresses Ya Boy's hunger to be admitted into Hip-Hop glory. "I can honestly say that this has to be some of my best work to date," explains Ya Boy. "I locked myself in the studio, some days without even eating or sleeping to live and breathe every moment of this project. There were days that I would work until I literally passed out from exhaustion; like this "tape was a matter of life and death." Source: Yoraps
