LL Cool J To Help Set World 'Shared' Reading Record
Published Tuesday, September 30, 2008 1:26 PM By Roman Wolfe Hip-Hop star LL Cool J will join thousands of children during the world’s largest "shared reading experience" during Jumpstart’s he Read For The Record Campaign tomorrow (October 2) in New York City. Tomorrow morning, LL will kick off the day on NBC’s Today Show with host Matt Lauer and the children’s classic Corduroy by Don Freeman. LL Cool J will then head to Bank Street Head Start Center where he will visit a small group of Jumpstart pre-k students and read Corduroy to them personally, in an attempt to help set the record for the world’s largest shared reading event. Anyone can register to read or donate books for children to read in low income areas on October 2, by visiting www. Readfortherecord.org. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Jumpstart is a national early education organization that specializes in preparing young children to succeed, through one-on-one relationships. The organization pairs 4,000 trained adults preschool children in need of assistance. During 2008-2009, Jumpstart will serve nearly 15,000 children across 20 states in partnerships with learning centers and universities throughout the United States. Source: allhiphop
