Swizz Beatz Says Alicia Keys Not Involved In Marital Break-Up

Mega producer Swizz Beatz recently came forward to address the massive rumors alleging that Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys is responsible for his marital problems.

As previously reported on SOHH’s Ya Heard blog, talk about Swizzy and his wife Mashonda separating made headlines last April but reasons were never disclosed. After speculation grew and gossip spread claiming he was having an affair with Keys, Swizz spoke with US Magazine to finally clear the air.

“I can no longer ignore the harmful rumors, that my friend Alicia Keys is in any way linked to my marital circumstances or to the decision that Mashonda and I have made to separate,” he said. “I am disappointed that some have chosen to try and tarnish Alicia’s reputation by irresponsibly implicating her in a situation that she has absolutely nothing to do with.”

Revealing the stress he’s gone through since his situation became public, Swizz pleaded for the media’s ease with the developments.

“This experience has been one of the most difficult times in my life,” he added. “[A]nd as was stated when we announced our separation several months ago, I ask that you continue to respect my privacy in dealing with this personal matter.”

While the producer may appear calm, an unnamed source has spoken with New York’s Daily News to reveal Mashonda’s side. According to the insider, the R&B singer became erupt after finding out Keys threw a recent birthday party for Swizz with special guests including Jennifer Lopez and Robin Thicke.

“Alicia introduced Swizz as ‘The man of the hour and my boo,” the source told the Daily News. “Mashonda has had enough. She put her career on hold to be a wife and mother. She’s tired of pretending she’s deaf, dumb and blind to what’s going on. She can’t believe how disrespectful Alicia is being.”

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, another source alleges Mashonda has hired a matrimonial lawyer, Bernard Clair.

“This could have been handled quietly, the insider explained to Daily News. “But now Mashonda has taken the gloves off.” The R&B sensation is still married to Swizz and is the mother of his son.
