T.I.'s 'Like' Starts Third Week Atop Hot 100
September 11, 2008 , 10:15 AM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" begins a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the fastest-growing track at radio. It remains a digital hit as well, having sold 145,000 copies in the United States this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But there's some strong competition from Pink's "So What," which jumps 3-2 and is the top digital gainer after selling 197,000 downloads. Rihanna's "Disturbia" slips 2-3, while Chris Brown's "Forever" and M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" hold at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" continues its ascent up the Hot 100, jumping 9-6 after selling 128,000 downloads. The track has shifted 1.1 million digital copies to date. Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" sticks at No. 7, while Ne-Yo's "Closer" remains No. 8. Flo Rida's 'In the Ayer" featuring will.i.am rockets 21-9 after shifting 110,000 downloads. Kardinal Offishall's "Dangerous" featuring Akon slips 6-10 to round out the top tier. Just below, Artists Stand Up To Cancer's "Just Stand Up!" explodes 78-11 in the wake of its performance on a multi-network cancer telethon last Friday. The song, which features more than a dozen top female artists, sold 110,000 downloads. Metallica has the top debut on the Hot 100 with "Cyanide" at No. 50. The song sold 48,000 downloads; its parent album, "Death Magnetic," will be released tomorrow (Sept. 12) via Warner Bros. Jazmine Sullivan begins a third week at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with "Need U Bad," while Jennifer Hudson's "Spotlight" jumps 8-3 as the fastest growing track at radio. Meanwhile, Brad Paisley earns his eighth straight No. 1 on Hot Country Songs (and 12th overall) with "Waitin' on a Woman." Staind scores a second week atop the Modern Rock chart, while Metallica assumes control of the Mainstream Rock chart in just three weeks with "The Day That Never Comes." Source: billboard
