Damon Dash Loses Pro-Keds Deal

Dame Dash hasn't been having much luck lately. In addition to facing foreclosure on his properties, the former mega mogul just lost the licensing rights to Pro-Keds.

The popular sneaker brand hired Dash back in 2004 to revamp it's look and boost it's image. Four years later, as the brand nears it's 60th anniversary, they say they are working on a new image and Dame just doesn't fit anymore.

"It was just a matter of timing," said Stride Rite spokeswoman Debra Fernandes. "We just wanted a new direction.

With it's re-launch expected in November of this year, Pro-Keds' reps are saying they want to focus on "fresh materials, colors and other trend details."

"We thank Damon for his partnership and efforts on the Pro-Keds brand over the past few years, and we look forward to re-launching the brand under the Stride Rite organization to maximize the brand's full potential," Stride Rite CEO Greg Ribatt said via a statement. "We plan to tap our archives and re-issue the classic styles with fresh new design details, and to build on the brand's vintage position with a new brand image."
