Princess Talks Solo Album, Tift With Diamond

Former Crime Mob member Princess, may be heading to a new label for the release of her upcoming solo project, reports various sources.

At press time, she was still signed to Warner Brothers with her now defunct group but they have all agreed to let her investigate the possibility of an alternative label situation.

“They gave me permission to shop around for another solo deal,” Princess told AllHipHop.com. “They still want the specifics on what another label is offering to see if they can match it. If not, they’ll go ahead and release me, and we’ll have to work out royalty splits and points on the album. And as long as the business is handled and I’m satisfied with what I’m getting, then we can move forward.”

Although Princess said that she has no plans to completely separate herself from the music she did with Crime Mob, she wants to communicate a more relatable style of music as she said that she has grown and matured a lot recently.

“I’ve grown [and] it’s more that I can talk about,” she explained. “Subjects that, I’m sure, females want to hear, instead of all the materialistic things. It’s more than that. It’s more than money...when you only make that type of music; really you’re being selfish. Your fans [may not] have any of that.”

In regards to the situation leading to Diamond’s departure from the group, Princess said that things got heated over an argument about a promotional picture.

She said that Diamond got upset over a promoter’s use of a picture of Crime Mob to promote a performance and appearance of Princess as a solo artist.

The two femcees through personal verbal jabs at each other before a photographer presented them with the idea to settle the brewing beef with a freestyle battle.

Princess says that she was ready for the challenge but Diamond’s people quickly whisked her away.

Although Princess says that she feels betrayed by the incident, she still has no regrets.

“I look at it as a blessing,” Princess said. “Because if everything went the way we thought it was supposed to go, I wouldn’t be as educated as I am now as far as the music industry and how it works.”

In addition to prepping her solo record, which is scheduled to hit stores next summer, Princess is also trying her hand as an R&B songwriter. She is said to be working with artists including R&B mini-crooner Sammy.
