06/10/08 - Lil Wayne Hoping To Move A Million Units

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III is officially in stores, today (June 10th). Despite the leaks, Cash Money Records CEO Ronald "Slim" Williams is hoping the set will move over a million copies which will be twice as much as this year's best-selling urban release thus far, Mariah Carey's E=MC2. Williams told Ballerstatus.com, "People will still buy the record. I've been telling Universal that I don't want nothing under 1 million sold in the first week. We're shipping like 1.6 million copies, but if it comes in under, I ain't complaining."

Williams has big expectations because Lil Wayne has been Cash Money Records'franchise artist since the demise of the Hot Boys in 2002. This is a role that Lil Wayne is very comfortable with. The rapper explained: "Like personally, I can't be at home knowing somebody else is the hottest artist on Cash Money. Like Baby, I can deal with that 'cause that's my pop, but as far as anything else, nah."

In related news, Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records will not pursue any legal action against DJ Empire for releasing The Drought Is Over mixtape series featuring several previously unreleased Lil Wayne songs. Williams explained, "It'll cost more for me to sue him and it's not worth it."

The CEO added, "Wayne has spoken to him, so I don't know what's going on with that. I think Empire said he has more music to put out. Most DJs are just local, so they're not making that much money anyway."

The next single from Tha Carter III is "Get Money" featuring T-Pain.

Slim a business man, he wouldn't have that many CDs shipped if he didn't think it was worth it. Personally I think the album is worth money so Imma cop it off iTunes and get a bonus track.
