It doesn’t take a genius to realize Mariah Carey’s new Island/IDJ album, E=MC2, is a smash.

Her follow-up to The Emancipation of Mimi set an all-time record for the diva with first-week sales of 475k, more than five times the total of the runner-up, J Records’ Leona Lewis, at 90k, after last week’s #1 debut.

Capitol Nashville act Lady Antebellum is the top newcomer at #3, with 47k.

Disney’s Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds Concert is one of the week’s top gainer, moving #27-4, +151%, second only to Rhino’s Juno soundtrack, riding the release of the movie DVD, #43-7, +195%.

The rest of the Top 10 includes SBMG/Commercial Music Group’s Now 27 (#5), MCA Nashville’s George Strait (#6), Razor & Tie’s Alvin & the Chipmunks (#8), Big Machine/Universal Republic’s Taylor Swift (#9) and Warner Bros.’ R.E.M. (#10).

Vagrant’s Thrice (#18), Virgin’s Tristan Prettyman (#19), Nickelodeon’s Naked Brothers Band (#31), Spinefarm’s Children of Bodom (#34), Atlantic’s Rush (#36) and Astralwerks’ The Kooks (#39) all made their chart bows.

Mercury Nashville’s Sugarland (#45), Rounder’s Robert Plant & Alison Krauss (#46) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Janet Jackson (#47) all re-enter the Top 50.

Aside from Hannah Montana, Juno and Taylor Swift (+15%), the other double-digit gainers for the week include Downtown/Atlantic’s Gnarls Barkley (#31-20, +14%) and Warner Bros.’ Linkin Park (#46-41, +20%).

Other positive flow was experienced by Epic’s Sara Bareilles (#20-17, +4%), Universal Republic’s Colbie Caillat (#30-27, +3%), Geffen’s Mary J. Blige (#37-35, +9%), Geffen’s Keyshia Cole (#43, +4%), Capitol Nashville’s Trace Adkins (#48, +6%) and Eleven Seven Music’s Buckcherry (#49, +2%)

Next week, look for chart landings by Geffen’s Ashlee Simpson and Sub Pop’s Flight of the Conchords, while Warner Bros.’ final Madonna studio album, Hard Candy, hits retail on Tuesday (4/29).

In first week, yes.. But we'll see about the long run.

Her last album sold less the first week than this one, and it went on to sell close to 6 million! In the US alone.

some of them did sound the same to me too but there were a some i liked, but i think in the long run she will still sell more than 50 and kanye

The difference between Mariah and 50 and Kanue is that Mariah has established a core fanbase and if you look at he albums she's only had a few back that weren't well recepted. 50 the massace never could live up to the hype of get rich. Even if Get Rich dropped again it wouldn't be able to match the impact. 50 second cd was too long and had too many singles on it. Curtis was the right length but too many singles and watered down lyrics. Same with Kanye second cd didn't match the first in terms of impact and the third was watered down. When Mariah drop you know you're going to get your money's worth. When Usher drop he'll do bigger numbers.

I tough she would sell like 500K, but 475K is still a good score now. For her album is wasn't really good, there's 2-3 beats that I can say are really good, the rest isn't really good
