Wyclef Jean is asking the citizens of Haiti to give up crime and live positive lives in a new radio ad sponsored by the United Nations, according to Reuters.
"If you love Wyclef, that means you love Haiti. So you should not be raping women, kidnapping people and children, because there can be no excuse for doing so," says Wyclef in Creole in the short ad. "I reject these evil practices," continues Jean in the ad, which runs several times a day in local stations. Clef also implores men to respect and protect women's rights. Wyclef's native home, Haiti, is one of the poorest nations in the world, and has suffered dictatorship, violence, and a slew of other problems. Kidnapping is especially rampant, as 36 official instances of the crime occurred in March in Port-au-Prince, and approximately 30 in February. These recent numbers were a rise from previous months, where the number had dropped to less than 20 a month. Fred Blaise, a spokesman for the U.N. police, noted that Wyclef's popularity among the Haitian people may have a positive influence on youth involved in crime. "All kinds of Haitians, the good guys as well as the bad guys, have a lot of appreciation for Wyclef for what he represents as a Haitian," said Blaise. "So they would be more likely to be receptive to Wyclef's message because they are all proud of him."

I hate it that when people are in a good position they tell other people not do to certain things and don't give them any support.
Not all people commit crimes they don't have to do. If Wyclef want's them to stop then why ho don;t hel them. I've red an report that says that U.N. soldiers rapes little girls up there in Haiti. Where was he? What tha fuck did he do about it? Like 50 said: "The dope bought us things the foodstamps coulnd'd get us. They don't understand we were just try to make it" |

Haiti is the most poor country in the world, been over countless civil wars, I don't believe their countryman will waste time upon beating each other's ass unless it's for dope/money/power. Wyclef might be the key to make some realize that they gotta stop this senseless violence and gotta change their habits. If he made trough, a lot can do too. U.N. soldiers rapin' like girls? Yeah right, give me one fucking picture and we'd hear about this for multiple weeks alonside with a revolt at Haiti. And it's sad because the people who are owning/runnin' the blood/crips here in Québec are mostly folks with Haitian bloodline, as if mob blood runs trough their veins, that the streets got too many deranged. Things gotta change, this place is fucking hell...
