DJ Felli Fel Not Worried About Rivalries, Says DJs Move Together

With a deal in place with So So Def/Def Jam, Los Angeles' Felli Fel is in good spirits as preps his major label debut, Go DJ. And he is enjoying the fruits of a success single in "Get Buck In Here" featuring Diddy, Akon, Ludacris and Lil Jon, so everything is going in the right direction.

With DJs such as Kahled and Drama in stores with their respective albums, Felli Fel isn't worried about competition from his peers. In fact, Felli loves what other DJs are doing, and insists rivalry between DJs of other regions does not exist.

"I think one thing that people need to understand is, when Khaled said 'We The Best' he's not necessarily talking about himself or his click (or even Terror Squad), it's our turn as DJs," Felli told BallerStatus.com last week from Los Angeles' Power 106 offices.

"People wanna make motherf---ers get into battle, but it's like there ain't gonna be no DJ battle [laughs]. I'm not a rapper. I'm a DJ and I'm not trying to battle another DJ. I'm trying to make good records, make money and support my family and have fun at it," he continued.

No beef, we got that. To certify his statements even further, the DJ explained how that the community of spindoctors are actually real supportive of each other, and if anything, if it wasn't from DJs who've released albums before him, he probably wouldn't be here today.

"We support each other as DJs," said Felli. "When Khaled has come out with his records, I've been here. If Khaled and his stuff didn't pop, there's a good chance that I might not have a record deal. When Khaled was coming out with records, of course, I'mma support him because... it's kinda funny to me answering this question 'cause we support each other. We do the same thing. It would be stupid for us not to. I think that it would hurt us if we didn't."

To show how much he supports his DJ brethren, during the filming of the video for his single "Get Buck In Here," Felli revealed that he invited both Khaled and DJ Drama to the set to make cameos, and while Khaled was able to make it, Drama wasn't able to. He did, however, manage to squeeze Drama in despite his absence.

"Drama wasn't actually able to make it out to my video [for 'Get Buck'], but I got him in the video," Felli Fel said with a smile. "You have to see the video to see what I mean by it. He's actually not there live, but I incorporated him into that video."

According to Felli, his video is expected to hit outlets very soon. It is currently in the final stages of being cut and will be added to BET soon.

As for his debut, Go DJ, the DJ said that fans should expect a hit oriented album with tons of club bangers, all of which he will and has produced entirely. Smitty, Rick Ross, T-Pain, Baby Bash, Xzibit, Daz, The Game, Diddy, Ludacris, and Ne-Yo are among the featured guests.

There is no current release date for the record, but will be coming soon, says Felli, via Jermaine Dupri's So So Def imprint through Def Jam.
