Snoop Speaks Out On UK Ban, Says Video Will Prove His Innocence

Snoop Dogg says a video of the 2006 airport scuffle that got him banned from the UK and Australia will prove him innocent.

As SOHH previously reported, the Dogfather (born Calvin Broadus) and five members of his entourage were arrested on April 27, 2006 after a mêlée at London's Heathrow Airport left seven police officers injured. The incident got Snoop banned from the UK.

But a video caught by a bystander may vindicate the West Coast rapper.

"They release this video and it's floating around on YouTube, TMZ and all over the Internet," Snoop told EURweb.com in an interview. "It's looking real strange how they did that to me and my security. Now they looking real out of pocket."

Snoop and his entourage were at the airport waiting for a flight to Johannesburg in South Africa where he was scheduled to headline a series of huge music events called the People's Celebration. He was set to play in Johannesburg, but instead spent the night in a UK jail.

Upon his release, UK officials decided to enforce a policy which allows them to ban foreign citizens whose presence is deemed contrary to the public good.

Snoop has maintained his innocence from the beginning, and though the video he's counting on only appears to show a clip of the incident, the rapper believes it's enough to clear him.

The clip begins with Snoop having a dance-off with a few kids at the airport as a crowd looks on. Moments later, Snoop is seen providing background music to a child playing with a musical toy at a store.

The video then cuts to a raging Snoop, yelling at a member of his entourage who appears to be a handler. He's apparently angry about the security escorts that have joined them as they walk to the gate.

"You ain't helping by being friends with them," Snoop shouts in reference to an interaction his handler had with the airport security. "Man, we going to the plane. We don't need to be escorted by no punk-@$$ fake police."

Authorities from the UK Home Office haven't released a statement about the incident since the video hit the net.

Though the ban is still in effect, Snoop will likely tour to promote his upcoming project Ego Trippin', due out in March.
