11/21/07 - T.I.'s Lawyers Claim Evidence Was Illegally Seized

T.I.'s lawyers gave a hint of how they plan to defend their client through motions filed in court on Monday seeking to suppress evidence seized from the rapper's vehicle during his October 13 arrest on federal weapons charges. The motions claim that the evidence against him and statements he made to authorities were illegally obtained. The Associated Press reports that attorneys for the rapper (born Clifford Harris) claim his car was searched without a warrant, consent or probable cause. They also claim that his detention might not have been appropriate, that statements he made to authorities might not have been voluntary and that agents may have failed to honor his rights. The motions don't go into details on the basis for the legal challenges, but state that more information will be filled in later. A judge had not made a ruling on the challenges at press time. ...

I hate this bullshit........R Kelly did the same thing, they don't deny their guilt but try to avoid conviction by saying the searches were illegal....why can't these grown men stand up and take responsibility for their actions.

Truly pathetic!!!!

R. Kelly has over 100 child porn offenses against him, but got about 100 of them dismissed because they were searching for drugs not child porn......at no point did R Kelly deny the charges, he just sidestepped them....this really disgusts me.

Same for T.I, I've lost a hell of alot of respect for him

i'm co-signing. if he was innocent, or being framed, then it would be ok. but he obviously did the crime, so that is a different story.

and for the record, i wouldn't do any crime i wasn't ready to pay the consequences for.

Of course, but y'all missing the point...

The point I was trying to make was that rather that prove their innocence, they know they are fucked so they say the searches were illegal.....basically admitting their guilt, but using a ridiculous legal loophole to get out of it.

If a serial killer killed 100 mothers and kids and buried them under his house, the police searched his house on a warrant for say.....robbery and then found 100 bodies, he could get away with it by saying the warrant wasn't for bodies, but for stolen good and weapons. I think its a total bullshit loophole that celebrities seem to use as a way of avoiding time though they are guilty as sin.
