Solange Knowles Signs Publishing Deal With EMI

Singer and songwriter Solange Knowles recently inked a worldwide co-publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing.

Solange, sister of Beyonce Knowles, has written or co-written hits for artists in the Music World Entertainment stable including Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and Beyoncé. Her most recent lyrical hits include Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied," "Upgrade U" and "Flaws and All" from the multi-platinum selling album, B'Day.

"Solange first came to our attention four years ago when her father and manager, Mathew Knowles, pointed her out to me," said EMI executive, Big Jon Platt, via a statement, who signed the deal along with former Music World Executive and East Coast Creative Director, Omar Grant. "Immediately I knew something was there, that special quality that's hard to define, but one that you can't miss. Since then, we have come to know her as a songwriter of remarkable versatility and steady determination. She is a true professional and someone with a long and exciting career ahead of her."

As previously reported on SOHH, Knowles is currently in the studio recording her sophomore CD, Solange & The Hadley Street Dreams, a collection of songs all co-written by Knowles, with appearances by Q-Tip and Bilal.

In related news Knowles is also currently promoting Baby Jamz, the first ever hip-hop inspired toy line for preschoolers. She is executive producer of the toy's updated hip-hop inspired nursery rhymes, and her son, Julez, is the face of Baby Jamz.
