05/07/07 - Warner Music Group To Fire Hundreds, Focusing On Digital Market

Warner Music Group will reportedly be restructuring and four hundred of its current employees are expected to be laid off in the coming months.

According to Billboard, the record label wants to put further emphasis on digital strategy and distribution. The forthcoming cuts will lead to more hiring for its growing digital operations.

The layoffs will supposedly not come down at once but will occur periodically.

Warner Music Group is the parent company for Asylum Records, Atlantic Records and Bad Boy Entertainment, which are home to artists like Paul Wall, T.I. and Yung Joc, respectively.

But what about rock, and the other catogries? Why are those not going down? It´s not all becuase of the downloading of the music. It´s also there are to may newbies who don´t have any talent. And todays fans just want clubangers. Nothing else. It´s like there arent any moore stories to tell in hip hop.

this is bad for hip hop but also all music in general and dont hate with what i'm about to say (i think lil romeo was did two digital albums) but hip hop will find another way to sell a lot of records it a time when u have to do somthing different just like when cassettes toke vinyals place and then cds toke cassettes place and bootlegging and downloading took cds place.
