04/24/07 - It's Official, Shawnna Parts Ways With DTP

SOHH has learned that Shawnna is no longer on Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace imprint.

According to Jeff Dixon, Co-CEO of DTP Records, the Chicago bred rapper wasn't dropped by the label but chose to leave "to do her own thing." DTP will be making the official announcement of Shawnna's departure during a press conference on Thursday (April 26).

During the aforementioned press conference, DTP will also announce the return of a familiar face to its roster.

Despite her exit from the label, Shawnna will appear on the upcoming DTP compilation album, Strength In Numbers. Surprisingly former DTP signee Chingy will also appear on the CD, slated to hit shelves in early July.

Shawnna began her career in a duo called Infamous Syndicate before signing to Disturbing Tha Peace. She would release two solo albums under the label, Worth the Weight and Block Music, respectively, as well as a DTP group album. Her biggest hits included "Shake That Shit" and "Getting' Some." In spite of considerable television and radio play, Shawnna has always suffered from poor album sales.
