Iconic hip-hop group Public Enemy is the latest addition to the already star studded line-up that is scheduled to take the stage at this year's Rock The Bells North American festival series.
The group was recently announced as special guest performers on the bill in celebration of their 20th anniversary in the music business and will now share the stage with headliners Rage Against The Machine and Wu Tang Clan, who will be performing new music from their forthcoming LP, 8 Diagrams. The festival has been held since 2003, yet this year's line-up marks the biggest yet for the young event. In addition, the festival also boasts one of the most extensive line-ups of both mainstream and independent acts to be included in a single event, with performances from over 20 acts on two separate stages, which include sets from artists like Nas, The Roots, Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, EPMD, Cypress Hill, MF Doom, Immortal Technique, Hieroglyphics, Jedi Mind Tricks and more. "It's a historic lineup," said Chang Weisberg, founder of Guerilla Union, the group that organizes the festival. "To have Rage come back right now, where the country is politically, and be on the same bill with the Wu-Tang Clan, it's a moment that represents the possibilities of hip-hop." To the delight of hip hop fans in the five boroughs, the historic festival is slated to hit New York City on July 28 when it makes its way to Randall's Island before heading back to the left coast for a pair of dates in San Bernardino at the CA Nos Events Center on August 11 and San Francisco at the McCovey's Parking Lot near AT&T Park on August 18. The festival is also set for 15 additional dates in other cities, but information has not yet been announced concerning those dates. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at will go on sale Saturday, March 31. For more information on the festival, log on to rockthebells.net source-sohh
