03/26/07 - Styles P Signs To Koch, LP Drops In July

Styles P announced he has signed to Koch Records, and is expecting to drop a new album, “5 Star General,” by this summer.

Styles, one-third of the Lox, first spoke of the new deal during a recent interview on Angie Martinez’ show on New York’s Hot 97 radio station.

“I look forward to embarking on this exciting new phase of my career alongside Koch Records,” he later said. “It feels good to be a part of a team that appreciates hip-hop in its truest form. I am ecstatic about being in control of my own destiny.”

“Styles is the perfect Koch urban artist,” added Alan Grunblatt, general manager and executive VP of Koch.

“He has a huge fanbase and is ready to go to the next level. We are absolutely thrilled to have him.”

“5 Star General” is slated to hit stores in July 2007.

its the truth!! it is a graveyard. all the artists that are dropped or no longer deal with majors sign with Koch. I think people are taking it to serious when 50 be saying that. its just ones opinion. I dont think its nothing wrong with signing with Koch. At the same time i was a D-Block fan before i was a Gunit fan. i like both camps equally. even though i thought D Block spends to much time with mixtapes. Time is Money was trash because i heard all the songs. In my opinion Styles was smart to give Interscope all the old tracks and kept all the good material for his new album on Koch. cant wait for that new styles p album.

If KOCH was a graveyard then explain the success of Jim Jones and Unk? A graveyard is not being on at all anymore. KOCH is independent which is probably less of a graveyard then majors.

yea... that was a pretty reasonable opinion but it still aint a graveyard... graveyard = dead = washed up or no name artist IMO... styles aint washed up... hes just signing to an independant to make more money off his lower sales... he doesnt sell as much as 50 cent so he aint makin that type money... its a smart move... i cant wait for his new album too... and his last one wasnt trash IMO...

Just because he doesn't sell like the Jay's and 50's of the world, doesn't mean he doesn't have a fan base. Jim Jones Sells 340 000 in Koch, That is roughly 5 dollars per album, roughly, they say 7, but i dont think so, maybe it is

Dpg, Bone thugs sell around 150 000 on Koch, Fat Joe Sold 160 000 On Koch, so

150x5=750 000 u get after all publishing, Managment and promotion, which in case, on Koch, its none, production, and all that la di da di da...

So Fat Joe gets around 750 000
Jimmy Jones gets around 350x5=1 600 000,
Bone,DPG otehrs get around 500 000 dollars

Banks GEts around 300 000 dollars after, Mobb Deep gets 260 000, Yayo gets around 500 000,
