02/15/07 - Tech N9ne Incites A 'Riot' During Los Angeles Performance

Kansas City's Tech N9ne boasted a nearly sold-out crowd at Hollywood's Key Club last Wednesday (February 7), as he performed in support of his latest release, Everready (The Religion).

Tech N9ne incited a frenzy of a mixed crowd of hip-hop heads, but not before openers Brotha J (of X-Clan), Big B and the Kottonmouth Kings warmed them up for the Midwest King.

Just before midnight, clubgoers began forming a crowd in front of the stage in anticipation of Tech's opening words. When the lights brightened, a young girl came out on stage to ask the crowd, "Are ya'll ready for Tech N9ne?" "Yes," said the crowd. But, it wasn't loud enough, and the girl asked again, which in turned received a deafening roar from the crowd. "Yea, ya'll ready," said the girl. "Get ready for my dad, Tech N9ne." That's when the rapper rushed out on stage.

Dressed in an orange mental ward-type jumpsuit, Tech N9ne -- accompanied by Kutt Calhoun and Big Krizz Kaliko -- opened up his set with the rock influenced “Riot Maker/Enjoy," setting the precedence for the remainder of the night.

Tecca Nina ran through several cuts, spanning throughout his career including several new tracks from Everready such as "I'm A Playa," "Night And Day," "Bout Ta' Bubble," "Jellysickle" and "The Beast."

Half-way during Tech's set, Kaliko pulled a single chair onto the stage, asking if any of the ladies would like to join him on stage. Although several women in the front row competed for the chance to sit in the chair, Kaliko invited Krishtine de Leon (MTV's "I'm From Rolling Stone") from backstage to be serenaded to the haunting lyrics from the song "T9x," asking the question, "Can I Suck Your Tongue?"

Soon after, the lights went out and Tech grabbed the chair and broke into "The Rain," where he raps about the struggles of staying on tour, while his family life and kids suffer from his absence.

Before ending his nearly hour and a half long set, the Kansas City native invited several of the opening rappers and V.I.P.s onstage to help bring an end to the night.

The energetic and entertaining performance is one fans should not miss. And if you weren't in Los Angeles for this particular show, don't worry. Tech has more appearances and shows coming up.

Everready (The Religion) is in stores now.

Tech Nine is lyrical as fuck he is pretty tight.If you never heard him check out one of his CD's.I am gonna have to check him out live I bet he gets the crowed goin almost to a riot everytime.He is the Riot Maker.His new album Everready is tight and his old shit is good too.
