Funny man Katt Williams recently faced a judge stemming from a 2005 incident in which two taser guns were allegedly found in his checked luggage as he was leaving the Kalamazoo, Michigan airport.

According to the Kalamazoo Gazette, on Tuesday (November 28) a judge delayed a decision on whether 35 year-old comedian Katt Williams (born Micah S. Williams) should be tried on felony charges for allegedly attempting to take stun guns onto a plane.

He was not initially arrested in the incident, but police submitted the case to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office and charges were issued last November. Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department deputy Lori Bittle testified Tuesday that after a security officer found the stun guns at the airport in '05, Williams told her he carried them for protection and didn't know they were illegal in Michigan.

Kalamazoo County District Judge Vincent Westra ordered the tasers be tested to confirm they were in working order before he decides whether to have Williams stand trial on two counts of possession of an illegal weapon. Williams, who hosted the first-ever "BET Hip-Hop Awards" earlier this month, faces up to four years in prison or a $2,000 fine if convicted.

A preliminary examination will be continued on December 20 after the tests are conducted. Williams, who had posted a $50,000 bond, will not have to return for the December 20 hearing, Westra said.

Prosecutors have said that Williams wasn't notified of the Kalamazoo warrant until after his November 6 arrest in California, when a stolen handgun was found in his carry-on bag at Los Angeles International Airport. Three more weapons were also found in bags Williams checked at that airport.
