11/29/06 - Snoop Dogg Reflects On Passed Beef With Suge Knight

Snoop Dogg's latest album, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment hit stores last week. Snoop recently gave special treatment to Rolling Stone, and got very candid about his beef with Suge Knight, as well as why he left Death Row Records.

The interview will appear in the next issues of Rolling Stone. In it, Snoop divulges that Dr. Dre's defection from Death Row fueled his anger towards Suge Knight, and led to his own defection to No Limit.

Snoop's relocation came at the dismay of Suge, who was serving a five-year prison sentence at the time. Snoop told Rolling Stone that Suge gave orders from behind bars calling for attacks on Snoop Dogg. Snoop alleges that he was a target at concerts and shows.

Following Suge's release from prison in 2001, Snoop was forced to deal with the beef or let it go. Snoop tried to keep the feud on wax and released the diss track "Pimp Slapped" that escalated the beef.

Suge was known to be a Blood affiliate and an extremely dangerous man, but Snoop shook off all of Suge's intimidation games and tried to see through the smoke screen.

"Never was afraid of him," Snoop tells Rolling Stone. "I was afraid I was going to have to kill him. That's what I was afraid of."

Snoop claims that the thing that kept him from killing the intimidating Knight was his friend and spiritual advisor, Bishop Don Magic Juan. Snoop claims that Juan was able to cool the situation and give Snoop a level head. "Bishop put water [on the situation]," said Snoop. "It takes a grown man to do that."
