11/29/06 - 50 Cent Challenges Samuel L. Jackson's Stance On Acting

50 Cent has seen his fair share of screen time. In 2005, Fifty released the semi-autobiographical movie Get Rich or Die Tryin'. He has also been working on three other movies since then. He is currently finishing up filming with Nicholas Cage in a boxing movie entitled The Dance. Fifty is also nearing a deal with well-respected actor Robert DeNiro in a movie about Katrina.

However, Fifty will be seen next in the movie Home of the Brave, which is about the war in Iraq and the mental effects it has on the soldiers who come home. The movie stars Fifty and Samuel L. Jackson, who recently has publicly lauded producers and filmmakers for hiring untrained rappers to star in films.

It began when Jackson refused to sign onto the Get Rich or Die Tryin' project because he considered Fifty to be inexperienced. Jackson claimed that musicians are not well trained enough for the screen, and therefore do not belong.

Fifty, who is known for his escalated beefs, simply responded with, "If he insists on taking that stance, people from the music world can look at Jamie Foxx and be upset. Jamie Foxx sold his records based on him being an Oscar-winning actor," said Fifty. "I don't want to do a movie with a rapper either if he's not 100 percent prepared for it."

Jackson, however, was very surprised by the G-Unit captain, but still thinks that rappers do not belong on the silver screen. "I said to the director, 'It's your film. If he's the best actor you've seen, fine. If you need a built-in audience of some sort... do what you got to do,'" said Jackson. And Jackson claims that everything is fine between his co-star. "50 Cent and I had lots of conversations about this and we see each other out at functions, so we have a working and social relationship that's fine."
