10/24/06 - Cam'Ron not being cooperative in investigation

WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The yearlong investigation into the shooting of rapper Cam'Ron in Washington may be suspended due to his lack of cooperation.

Cam'Ron, whose real name is Cameron Giles, was shot on Oct. 23 of last year in the alleged attempted car jacking of his 2006 Lamborghini, SOHH.com reported Monday.

Since then no one has been arrested. District of Columbia police Sgt. Joe Gentile says the case is open but with no news to report.

The rapper has not been very helpful, he hasn't returned phone calls or traveled to Washington to help the investigation, SOHH.com said.

Diane Groomes, spokeswoman for the 1st Police District, said the investigation has been suspended.

"I believe it did get suspended because he never wanted to testify at the grand jury. He never came back to give a statement," Groomes told The Washington Post.
