J-Banks: First thing. Who is Dave Barz, tell us a little about yourself and what can we expected from you?

Dave Barz: Dave Barz is a recording artist and producer from Bridgeport Connecticut. Pretty much been involved with music my whole life. Been playing the piano since I was like 4, Ive dabbled in the drums and guitar areas as well. I actually started off wit Hip Hop, DJing and making mixtapes back in high school. Back when everyone was still rocking walkmans wit 90 minute tapes. (laughs) Started dabbling in writing around ‘95 but I really started taking it seriously around 2000. I am currently signed with Double Up Ent. Home of K. Sparks. Since November (’08) I’ve been doing a monthly mixtape series called “The A.R. Barz Series”. I have a EP titled “The Current Problem” ready for launch and also working on a 50/50 album with my man Kurser.

J-Banks: What influences your music and your style?

Dave Barz: Life in general. Situations I’ve been in, drama, people the whole 9. As far as a style, I switch up my personality all the time on the mic. What the beat tells me to do I do. I let the mood of the music influence what I’m doing vocally. I try to steer away from being like one of them rappers you can stick in a box.

J-Banks: Top 5 Dead Or Alive, regardless of genre?

Dave Barz: Oh boy! (laughs) My top 5 Hip Hop no particular order would be Prodigy of Mobb Deeo, Method Man, Lloyd Banks, Ghostface and probally Nas. I like alot of groups too like Alkoholics, obviously Wu-Tang, Boot Camp alot of dudes that were major in the 90’s. As far as genre, outside of straight Hip Hop I like some Rock such as Linkin Park, STP, Metallica, Green Day to name a few.

J-Banks: Name some artists you would love to collabo with in the future?

Dave Barz: I wish to God I would of had a chance to work with Aaliyah to be honest, her music was incredible. Rest in Peace. Definitly have to say Mobb Deep they were a huge influence for me, Dr. Dre, Rza for production and anyone from the Wu. Also, anyone who knows my music knows I try to murder punchlines, every single track, on that note by the end of my career I wanna have a song with me Cassidy and Lloyd Banks going as hard as possible. That would be huge. Outside Hip Hop definitly Christina Aguilera she has an incredible voice, Mike Shinoda, Scot Weiland, Fred Durst and Wes Borland.

J-Banks: Everyone seems to be asking this question, so I might as well also. What are the top five girls you would smash?

Dave Barz: Oh damn man out of any? Sanaa Lathan Number 1 definitly. She is damn near perfect. Halle Berry is on everyone’s list, so her too. Keira Knightly, chick from the Pirates movies is blazin’. Jaime Lynn Sigler, the girl who played Meadow on Sopranos. For last I’m a go with Charlize Theron.

J-Banks: Five things fans might not know about you?

Dave Barz: I dont eat red meat or pork, just poultry and fish as far as meat goes. I try to stick to a specific diet which is high protein low carbs, the best I can. I work out damn near everyday.

J-Banks: Off Subject, where do chill at a lot/eat at?

Dave Barz: I don’t chill like I used to, music has me busy constantly. I do hit a few night spots occasionaly down town New Haven, CT. In down time I be whippin as in Socom Online. Me and Sparks got this spot out in Queens, NY we hit called Santa Fes. Its one of them chain resturants but we don’t have one in CT so we hit there once in a while. Their Hot Wings are off the hook.

J-Banks: Off subject, What are your favorites TV shows/movies?

Dave Barz: I don’t watch TV that much, hardly ever but I’ll definitly say Sopranos, I got all the seasons and 2 and a Half men is funny as hell. Movies in no particular order my favs are Cloverfield, Star Wars all of them as 1, Lord of the Rings series, The Bourne series, Matrix series, and Lethal Weapon series. Die Hard movies were dope too.

J-Banks: It a new Year, what are your goals for 09?

Dave Barz: Get my music everywhere and continue to build a fan base as well as a relationship with them. I want the fans to play a role in my music as well, feedback, suggestions, everything.

J-Banks: What are your favorite albums of all time?

Dave Barz: First off half the people I like all hate each other so this list gonna look crazy! 1. 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin, 2. Wu- Tang - Wu- Tang Forever, 3. Mobb Deep- Murda Muzik, 4. Raekwon- Only Built for Cuban Linx (the purple tape), 5. B.I.G.- Life After Death. All of those albums are Classics no matter what anyone could possibly say and, all of them inspired me 100% to pursue my career if it wasnt for those artists with those albums there would be no Dave Barz. Other favorites of mine are GhostFace- Supreme Clientele, Tupac- All Eyes On Me, Scarface- The Diary, OutKast- Aquemini, Eminem- Slim Shady LP, Nas- I Am.

J-Banks: What does Hip Hop mean to you?

Dave Barz: I hope everyone reads my answer for this. Dope Lyrics, Dope Beats, Dope DJ, Dope Graphitti, Dope Dancing, Dope Clothing and a Fresh optimistic Attitude.
