Raptalk caught up with The Black Wall Street's X.O. formerly known as Scipio. In this new explosive interview X.O. discusses the name change and his beefs with Bishop Lamont, Xzibit and briefly mentions his former friend Ras Kass. I myself am cool with all of these names and I've supported them all for as long as I've been in this business. Hopefully everybody can one day resolve their issues and continue to make good music for us all to support and enjoy. With that said, fasten your seat belts as we bring you X.O.
Styles: You used to be known as Scipio and now you’ve changed your name to X.O. What’s the story on that? X.O.: At the point of time when I did that, I took a little bit of time off. You know me; I’ve been hitting niggas over the head with the music and the quality mixtapes. It was just a time in my life where I was shedding a lot of weight off of me and a lot of associates that I wasn’t dealing with anymore. It’s just a fresh start, really. With the affiliation with The Black Wall Street, I kind of switched up altogether, as far as my style and the stuff that I talk about. X.O. is mainly just a new beginning for me. Anybody that knows me and has followed my career knows that I’ve been through a lot. There’s been a lot of grinding and ups and downs – this is just a new opportunity for me to start fresh. I feel so much of a different person already. Everything stands and starts with a man’s name. Styles: Does the name X.O. stand for anything in particular? X.O.: It stands for a lot of stuff but the main thing is life after death. The circle represents life and the X represents death. It also stands for hugs and kisses for the bitches, and slugs and stitches for the hating ass niggas. That’s obviously the street side of it, but for me, its life after death. And its life after death through my eyes because obviously anybody that doesn’t know me, doesn’t know what I’ve been through in order to understand about me dying and coming back to life. Styles: A lot of fans on the internet have made it a point to criticize you for being affiliated again with The Game and The Black Wall Street after you previously dissed him. What do you have to say about that? X.O.: First off, real recognize real. My relationship with Game is like we are brothers or cousins. Anybody out that doesn’t think that you will never have any fights with your brother or your cousin or never be mad at them is insane. For him to hear my diss and know about it and not trip off of it says something. The first thing he told me when I came back was, “Nigga I know we had our differences, but I ain’t tripping off none of that.” I already knew that though because we had talked prior to that. We kept in touch and he heard the shit that I did. He chose not to respond because he probably understood my frustrations. And that’s all it was – I didn’t do it for any publicity. The thing about us artists is that when we feel something, it has to come out in our music. I’m not the kind of nigga that’s going to sit there and will feel a certain kind of way and just stand behind a niggas back. I addressed it, it wasn’t disrespectful, and it was how I felt at the time. I obviously feel a different way now or else I wouldn’t be where I am. I’m not a nigga that just hops on a team – I’ve been there from the motherfuckin’ beginning – at the very beginning with Dre and the Puerto Rico tour. I went on his very first tour which was to Puerto Rico. I was there when Harlem was a little baby. There was some miscommunication shit and things were lost in translation at the time, and things were said – but the nigga buried that shit. We buried that shit as men and it was not as hard as you would think it would be. I wasn’t wreckless. I said how I felt and it wasn’t out of hate – it was just out of frustration. If I would have said something out of hate, then I would have said something to him like “Fag Kass.” If it was out of hate, I would have said something about a family member. It was just only out of frustration and a nigga understood that. It’s like we are siblings or relatives and we just kept it pushing – and that’s how I feel that real niggas do. I fight with my friends all of the time. I had a fight with my barber the other day! Over him cutting my hair! Whether he fucked me up or I fucked him up – nigga- I don’t hang around funny style bitch ass niggas that’s going to take something or read too much in to something and take it somewhere else. That’s how I was raised by my momma and pops and I pride myself by surrounding myself with people that are similar to me. I’ve never been a nigga to dick-ride. I’ve never been a nigga to fuck with someone because of a situation. I’ve always been a loyalist and a visionary. I see what I want to see for myself and my career and I act it out. I land on my feet every time because of that. Styles: So when did you find yourself making your way back to The Black Wall Street camp? X.O.: I was in New York fucking with Brian Lynch of J Records. He had offered me a situation over there. It was a similar situation to what he had offered Hurricane Chris. We met over at Polo Grounds and it was all gravy. While I was out there, I got a call from Dougie D just seeing what’s good. Dougie D was the person who first introduced me to Game a long time ago back in 02 or whatever the fuck that was. At the time, he was in the studio with Game so I was like, “Put me on the phone with that nigga.” I told him I was gonna fuck with him when I got back to L.A. He was working on L.A.X at the top of the year. When I got back to L.A. I came to the studio and we hit it off. It was like old times just kicking it – same shit different toilet, my nigga. Styles: You put out a video recently after Bishop Lamont revealed a diss song about Game. I know that you and Bishop were working together at some point. What was that whole scenario about? X.O.: The whole truth about that is the nigga was utterly and completely out of pocket by mentioning my name in a video he did. Whatever beef he had with Game, I’m still gonna have my antennas up because the enemy of my friend is my enemy too. But I might not have put a video out about him had he not mentioned my name. Mind you I had a situation up at Warner Bros. and he [Bishop] kind of spoke on that too much. My situation didn’t go through over there, so be it, that is something that an artist goes through. After the Warner Bros. thing, I never talked to the nigga. He says in this video where he’s talking about beating Game up, “my homeboy Scipio.” I ain’t talked to this nigga in 2 years! When I hit the nigga up, he never returned a call. That’s not indicative of someone that’s my “homeboy.” When he’s saying that I’m his homeboy, that means he’s trying to stir shit up. How are you going to say “my homeboy Scipio” and then diss my homeboy Game in the same sentence? You can’t do that and any real nigga is going to address that. Also the way he came at Game was fallacy. Nothing that he’s said has ever proven to be true. He’s talking about how he’s going to fight niggas. Nigga, we seen you at the club in Houston. You know how The Black Wall Street gets down. If there’s a problem, there will be a problem and it’s going to make motherfuckin’ headlines. So don’t even act like it was something other than it was. You trying to toast with me? I didn’t toast with you nigga. I don’t drink with niggas that I don’t fuck with. I guess his situation over at Aftermath isn’t going as good as it should have, so he’s just trying to stir up water. He’s trying to make a little noise. He’s like the Judas to Jesus. Me being the nigga that I am, I am going to speak on it because I felt that he was wrong by trying to associate me with him and he knows that I haven’t spoken to him in 2 years. Plus my little homie that was fucking with him on that Caltroit project had brought me up to him like, “Are you fucking with Scipio?” This dude was like, “Naw we don’t fuck with Scipio.” So all this while I am knowing this and hearing this but I don’t have to speak on everything that I know. That’s what got me mad. First off this nigga is lying and fabricating about everything that happened in Houston. Then this nigga is saying “my homeboy Scipio.” We ain’t homies nigga. If you bring my name up, then you are just trying to stir shit up. He’s not smarter than me. He might read a lot of books but he has no wisdom and he’s showing people that he has no wisdom – and that’s why people aren’t taking to his shit. Even the fans – they read through his shit and can see that everything this nigga puts out is not from the heart. Listen to any of his shit – it’s not from the heart. It’s not organic. You can’t listen to any of this niggas songs and feel like you want to cry, or jump up and down or go fuck a bitch. It’s all sub-par. Music is about emotions. That’s how you gain your fan base and that’s how niggas fuck with you man. He fabricates a lot of his shit. I don’t have no real hate for the nigga but I hate when niggas talk out of the sides of their mouths knowing what type of nigga I am. I’m not Scarface or Tookie Williams – that’s not me- but I’m a Ryda. I don’t ride for a gang, I don’t gang-bang but I’m a fighter. I’m a Ryda in my own right just like a lot of niggas from L.A. or around the world. Some niggas don’t’ like certain shit and I don’t like when niggas talk funny about me or say some shit that’s not true. I told him in that video, “Just rap better nigga.” It’s not even that serious. He’s going around asking people about shows and events, “Is Scipio going to be there?” My publicist gets calls from people asking if X.O. is gonna be at this show because Bishop wants to come through and if I’m there, he’s not going to come through. It doesn’t even have to be like that. He has to understand that when it comes to this beef stuff, he’s not going to do it better than Pac or The Game. Styles: Game has been pretty silent about all of this. Usually when it comes to beefing or someone saying his name, he’s quick to retaliate. X.O.: I told him not to even trip and for me to handle it. He’s got so much that he’s dealing with. I felt like, “Go ahead and chill my nigga. You done bodied a whole motherfuckin’ brand.” Who is a Bishop? What the fuck does Game have to prove to him. Think about it. This nigga bodied 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and Young Buck – a whole motherfuckin’ brand! Nobody’s buying their records now. Game took them on by himself. What do you think that he has to prove to Bitch-Up Lamont, that hasn’t sold a fucking record and can’t even sell a mixtape? It’s just funny to me. A nigga could do so much more with his energy. Why endanger yourself? You know that niggas take this shit seriously. I don’t go around on radio shows saying this or that about somebody – that’s not what I’m going to do. Ask all of the New West niggas that I fuck with – I’m a wreckless nigga. I’ve been stabbed in the head twice. I’ve knocked niggas out. I’ve already had 3 fights just this year. I’ve had 33 altogether. My hands are all fucked up. I told myself that I wasn’t going to fight anymore. He has never been that type of dude. You’ll never hear a story about that nigga – never! I’m not Tookie but I’m just me – who I am. He doesn’t have any war stories man. Why even act like that? The fans aren’t going to feed in to that. That’s not the foundation of your career or you. It’s fake and everybody sees right through it – everybody! I don’t give a fuck if it’s a 12 year old girl listening to this shit. She knows the difference between The Game and a motherfuckin’ Bitch-Up Lamont. Styles: Lets talk about you now. You have your Slugz N Stitchez mixtape that you are putting out. What else is going on with you? X.O.: I’ve got a lot of ground-breaking stuff going on. I’ve got an album that is almost done. I’m just looking for a couple of more things. I saw a lot when I went around the world touring and it basically sparked a light over my head. I had access to a fan-base that most don’t get access to. Game’s fan-base is crazy. I had an opportunity to open up for Game while we were on tour and I made a huge impact. People are asking me to come back to do my thing. When my album is done I want to go to the streets of Europe and Africa. I’m in touch with people right now to make that happen. Styles: What’s the situation like at The Black Wall Street? Is there an outlet for you to get your album out? Or are you going to take it to another company? X.O.: I’m figuring all of that out right now, the avenue that I’m going to take as far as distribution. Me and Game talk about that kind of shit all of the time. I don’t want to put a stamp on anything yet or quote me on that kind of stuff – but there’s definitely talks that we are having about all of that. Styles: Talk to us about this Slugz N Stitchez mixtape. What’s in store? X.O.: You know me, I’m a spitter. It’s not Angel Dust I or II. Angel Dust I was a classic off the top and Angel Dust II did it’s thing. But this one is more of me showcasing X.O. It’s going to show how my style has changed. I was a little more militant with the Angel Dust shit but now it’s just Slugs & Stitches for niggas and Hugs and Kisses for the bitches. By no means have I slacked off. It just gives me a different place to go. There is no one sided person in the world. This is a place where I have yet to visit as an artist and actually stay there for some time. Styles: Has your situation with Bishop Lamont caused you to not work with anybody that you used to work with before? X.O.: I don’t know yet. As you know, the West Coast is kind of clique-ish. Everybody has their own cliques. Everybody that I know that can possibly know that dude still answer my calls. I guess you can say it hasn’t. The nigga doesn’t hold weight. I could see if it was Dre or Game, then niggas wouldn’t answer my calls but he’s not that prevalent to where niggas wouldn’t pick up the phone for me. Niggas probably pick up my calls faster now. You know, he’s the nigga that came to me with stuff. As soon as Glasses Malone lost his situation with Sony Records, Bishop was like, “That’s what that nigga gets.” Every time I saw that nigga he had something to say about someone else! He’s like a lying preacher. I call him a Catholic Priest, not a Bishop, because he touches little kids. This was b4 the Recent Bitchup Lamont shit, after that, shits going Serious. source
