This Aint New, But It Aint Been Posted Before
09/11/2007 Spiderloc.comHHNLive.com writer Jay Rose sits down with G-Unit's Spider Loc to talk working with 50 Cent, his street cred on the west coast, Lil' Wayne, The Game, Yukmouth and more. Spider on Lil' Wayne: "...as a man he’s obviously confused, weird and going through an identity crisis..." Jay Rose: What's good Spider, it's Jay Rose callin from hhnlive.com Spider Loc: What up big homie? JR: Chillin here in CT. Where are you calling me from? SL: I’m here in Hollywood California. It's crazy out here everything is bluetiful man, it’s a bluetiful world out here. JR: What did you get into last night? SL: Ummm I was in the studio man. We working on a few records. Just did a record with Papa Smurf last night. Just trying to do some records with a couple of my artists. JR: That’s what’s up. Aight so let's get into this interview. Where did you get the name Spider Loc from? SL: That’s what they called me from my neighborhood. It’s been my nickname since I was young. JR: Word. Do you have any projects going on outside of rap? SL: Outside of the rap game? Yea, you can catch me on an upcoming episode of Weeds on the Showtime network, Sunday nights at 10 p.m. I’ve been trying to do some acting. I also got a modeling agency called the “Good-Look” I’m running alongside with my partner Crash. I have a joint venture with Funky Flashbacks for my Baymaac clothing line that I’m putting together. Baymaac Music, that’s my label. Got a number of artists on that. And um… And um… I’m high as a mothafucka. I got some bomb Kush. JR: Oh that Kush? Yea we got that Kind Bud up here SL: Kind Bud? Danm I needa trip off that. It's bomb? JR: Hell yea SL: I done been to Amsterdam and back and I ain’t smoke no weed better than that Kush, but you’ll have to show me something man JR: Haha anytime you around. SL: No doubt. But what else we got goin on. Danm we got In the Street Productions. We shooting videos, we doing DVDs. We doing all types of shit. JR: Aight, seems like you staying busy making these moves. You mentioned your independent label Baymaac. What made you decide to put that together? SL: Well I was just out here hittin the streets up with the mixtapes. And then you know just business wise, I saw that the way that the industry is moving, my G-Unit debut "World Wide Web" was yet to drop on G-Unit, so I was just tryin to stay as available as possible. I was presented with the opportunity to step it up a little bit and push the album out on my own label, so I said fuck it. You know what I’m saying, get this bread in the meantime while I’m waiting on the boss to get the situation together up top. JR: Where did you come up with that name Baymaac? SL: Baymaac is actually the name of an organization that I am a part of. It’s an exclusive organization made up of eight brothers, state-wide. It’s black entrepreneurs man. We’ve been established for a little under ten years. It all started with this auto restoration company. Also an auto hauling company that transports vehicles nation wide. The third entity is music, which is mine and it’s Baymaac music, soon to be clothing, apparel, and fragrances, just everything you can think of. JR: So the clothing line is going to be separate from G-Unit clothing? SL: Well at this point in the stages of developing it we are totally independent of G-Unit clothing. And when it’s getting ready to be put on the market and for business purposes if it makes sense to go with G-Unit then I’m not turning it down. But at this point it’s about Baymaac and I’m working on it with Funky Flash Back. We building it together. JR: So where can we see the clothing line once it’s ready to come out? SL: Coming soon at FunkyFlashBacks.com, coming soon at SpiderLoc.com, and you'll be able to catch it up on my myspace. There ain’t nothing up yet just yet, so you just gotta anticipate that. JR: No Doubt… Aight so you started off in the game on Death row Records right? SL: Well as far as being exposed on a major level, than yea I was first exposed to the majors thru being associated with Suge Knight and Death row records. I was never actually signed as an artist to their label or an official member of their roster. But I was featured in publications and magazines as a Death row artist and everything I put out around that time I associated with them. Went around Vegas and L.A. with Suge. I was at the studios tons of hours and didn’t do that much recording. Haha and beat up on few mothafuckers with Suge. JR: You still keeping in contact with Suge? SL: Um just randomly, but like no specific communication. Probably once or twice, three times a year we’ll bump into each other, and holla at each other on a fluke or something. JR: Do you know anything about the legal problems he’s going through? SL: Everything yall know I know. Listen I don’t even watch television or the news. I heard Dre is suing for his part of Death Row Music. JR: You ever meet Dre? SL: Have never spoke with him. JR: So you got the new album coming out. Is 50 Cent helping you with it? SL: Well the street album is totally Spider Loc. But with the World Wide Web album I’ve had quite a bit of control over how it’s being put together, but he has definitely sent me over some advice. Me and 50 also got a couple of film prospects that we throwing around. I’m taking acting quite seriously lately. And he’s come out on the acting mother-fucking forefront not only on the acting level, but also on the producing level, so we exploring some of those channels. But right now me and 50’s relationship is primarily music. JR: I know you have an EP coming out on September 11th. Is there a reason you choose that date given that 50 is dropping the same? SL: I actually had that date before he did, so I got locked into that date. I had to go on that date because I had done a lot of promotional stuff. 50 hasn’t said anything about it. JR: As you know 50 seems to stay in beef. SL: Ay 50 ain’t in no beef man. That shit you see going on with these industry mother-fuckers that ain’t no beef man. Niggaz from the block know what beef is and I’m so tired of hearing mother-fuckers say beef, this ain’t no mother-fucking beef. He just got a whole bunch of mother-fuckers mad at him because he’s that nigga and he’s going to continue to have that. He’s that mother-fucka that really shook the industry. He was just smart enough to come in the industry and not have them type of bullshit people around him. The man is a class act so he knows there's plenty of mother-fuckers trying to hate on him, but ain’t nobody going to touch him, it's not beef. JR: So when someone comes at 50 musically, do you feel that you inherit that and you have to come at them musically as well? And do you also feel like if they come at 50 then that person is cut off to work with in the future? SL: Yea I definitely wouldn’t work with someone who is coming at 50. That’s kinda a goofy question. As far as inheriting it, I’m not gonna take it upon myself to respond. I say what I want to say but I dont give fuck about nothing that’s not moving in my circle. JR: So how do you feel about Lil Wayne right now as far as musically and as a man because that seems to be 50’s latest lyrical assault? SL: Well I don’t listen to that nigga music, because he don’t appeal to me. And as a man he’s obviously confused and weird and going through an identity crisis. Kissing grown men on the mouth and then turning around already being a seven figure individual and a perfect entertainer and start pumping up a gang affiliation. That shit weird as a mother-fucker to me. JR: Banks and Buck recently dropped their second albums due to somewhat lukewarm response. Do you feel it's your turn to step up next? SL: Man I’m just tryin to make that money man. I’m the first hand man to Spider and an employee of 50 cent. I’ve been that nigga the day he landed me, I’m still that nigga. So whenever it makes sense for that to be displayed to the world, it’s gonna be obvious that I’m that nigga. I’m ready, I’ve been ready. It’s just that they ain’t ready for me yet. JR: Any rapper out you’d like to see in G-Unit? SL: Umm...Jeezy. JR: What’s the next single you’re trying to release for the album? SL: Well for the current single we still pushing a “Bluetiful World”, because its been getting attention off the mixtapes and off the internet. That’ll be the official push that we put behind the single. And we got the remix feat. Papa Smurf and other Baymaac artists. JR: Your obviously getting a lot of love for that single, but at the same time its seems like you would receive a lot of hate from it since it’s reppin the Crips so hard. SL: Nah man it’s got moves in L.A., the Bloods in L.A. love that song. Around the world some of the Bloods are confused and think they’re not supposed to like it but deep down when nobody around they love that song too. But anybody who call themselves a G or anybody who loving rap music can appreciate music that’s coming across from the street level and you gotta love that song. JR: Yea that’s a crazy joint. Where’d you get the concept from? SL: Actually I was at the airport and I was waiting on the flight, but I think the seats were blue, the desk was blue, I seen somebody on a Bluetooth, so those two lines came to my head first and then I just kept going. And several years prior to all that Crooked I, who is a west coast MC out here that’s been holding it down for sometime, we was together, spent sometime together at Death Row. One day he was just fucking around and he called something “bluetiful” and I was trippin like oh that’s hard, but he was like yea I’ma give you that jewel, because he’s not affiliated with any colors, so I was like good lookin, so the words always been in the back of my head, but I never had a real reason to put it out, never had a creative way to use it. So when I seen all the blue shit I was like damn this is bluetiful. JR: That’s a good look from Crooked I. SL: Yea Crook. Good looks go out to Crooked I. Holding it down my nigga! JR: Yea and you have a mixtape coming out right? SL: Yea it's coming soon putting it on the streets, it’s coming soon. Coming in October we got the king of R&B, the King of Rap. JR: Haha you gonna be singing on it? SL: Haha HELL NAH man. It’s like songs with the music behind the songs geared towards a more R&B sound. You know for the ladies. We got some ladies singing on the hook. You know there’s a surprise, a twist to it. Go and check it out it’s for the ladies to go grab, it's R&B and that’s what it do. JR: That’s what’s up. I had to ask, are you and The Game still going at it? SL: Well actually the last time that nigga say my name on the record, I said his name back and he ain’t say shit back, so if he ain’t got nothing to say then I got nothing to say you know? We just having our battles. That’s how it happened when I met him. That nigga walked into the trailer, spit a verse, I spit a verse, he spit another verse, I spit a verse, kinda parted the way for him to spit another verse and he didn’t come out, so I just kept spittin until he stopped me, talking bout you cant beat that ghetto poetry, so I guess he just came to the conclusion again he’s having a rap battle, went back and forth for a second, then you know I put the over kill on him, and he ain’t have shit to say about the Loc. Can’t attack my G out here. This right here the west coast. Any nigga on the west coast know what we really stand for out here. And hate on S-P-I? If any nigga from the west coast ain’t got enough courage to stand up. I ain’t taking nothing from no other nigga that play their part out here. But every nigga know when you come to the round circle that means all you hoe ass niggaz that don’t wanna say it, I’m talking to all you bitch ass niggas, you better know the truth, because I put no extras on my stories, so don’t take nothing off. S-P-I out here is what it is, that’s all. JR: Is Yukmouth still sayin' shit to you? SL: I done bumped into him a few times. You know what I’m sayin ain’t got no issues with each other right now. JR: Who are the next big names coming from the west? JR: Every Baymaac artist. Pap a Smurf, Mike the Snipe, Black, Big Foot, Payback. Those are the niggas you gotta have your ears open for. My nigga Cartoon, he also got a lil situation with Baymaac. Putting a group together with him, myself, Papa Smurf. So um that’s what it do. JR: Do you have a top 5 list of rappers in the game right now? SL: Well the rappers in the game right now make it hard to be a rap fan. Yea so I ain’t really trippin on rappers at this moment for the fact that they rappers. I ain’t really checkin for anybody. JR: Listen to anything besides rap? SL: Lil R&B and some Gospel JR: What makes you the "West Kept Secret"? SL: Them bitch ass niggas be scared to tell you that Spider Loc is what it do out here. The best example thus far. JR: Any last comments? SL: Yall niggas is guilty of the sin of omission. Those that don’t understand needa do some research and figure it out. Yall niggas is guilty cuz they know not what they do. All of you hoe ass niggas.

Probably Still Going Through Artist Development..I Respect The Fact That 50 Doesn't Just Throw People Out There When Their Clearly Not Ready Or Good Enough i.e. Soulja Boy
You Could Be On A Label For 20 Years And Never Drop...It May Just Never Be The Right Time..Whatever Label You Go To..Look At M.O.P
