Default 11/09/07 - St. Laz - Brownsville Bomber

11/09/07 - St. Laz - Brownsville Bomber

New York bred rapper St. Laz, the self proclaimed ‘Second Coming of Christ in the Rap Game’, is one of the major forces to reckon with in the mixtape circuit and is also one of the most talked about emcees on the internet.

Laz is notorious of dropping hot compilations monthly and currently has a buzzing single on New York City’s Hot 97.

The Brownsville spitter recently caught up with Sixshot.com to talk about his latest effort, St. Laz VS Jay-Z, and his bubbling career.

So Laz what are you currently working on?

I’m working on making St. Laz a household name and I’m working on my next mixtape called I Run The Internet.

Indeed you do run the Internet, do you feel that putting out mixtapes betters you as an artist?

It keeps you on your toes. It’s like working out or staying in shape.

So you must live in the studio right?

Yeah, I record at home but I got a few studios scattered through the city.

Are you going to transcend your grind into the mainstream? Possibly create an album?

I’m gonna help change the entire economy of music soon, albums are kinda played out. It’s all about the internet now. I’m gonna create things using the internet that’s gonna take my music to the next level.

What things are you gonna create to take it there?

I can’t go into too much detail because my company and I have a billion dollar idea that I can’t risk by talking about it too much but the bottom line is we are gonna introduce new ways for indie artist to get heard and make money easily, new software, new opportunities.

So you're basically saving the Indie M ovement and giving them more opportunity.
What’s your latest mixtape? how is that doin? whose on it?

The latest tape is the St. Laz VS Jay-Z tape with DJ Fade and DJ Rokz. [Download here]

What made you pick Jay-Z?

I’m the best in the underground and he’s the best in the mainstream. I can only be compared to the best. I wanted to show dudes how much the underground got to offer.

What underground artists are you feeling and why?

That’s all I really listen to is the Underground. I’m feeling Brooklyn, Valdon, Lucky Don, Snyp Life, Chozen Few, Team Afficial, Tom Gist, A-Mafia, My boy Nah from New Rochelle. He got another joint with Styles P right now.

What don't you like about the game right now?

I don’t like the crab in a barrel shit. DJ's tryna get their own artists on so bad that they are bias with other artists.

So do you think the mixtape game is going strong?

It’s turning digital, which is a good thing. The music moves further.

Where do you see the Hip-Hop game in another year? The business aspect of it.

I see St. Laz having a major impact on the quality of music so the future is looking bright for hip-hop right now.

What should people know about St. Laz that they don't know already?

That I’m the number one Indie artist in the world for a reason I’m the second coming of Christ for the rap game, Pac was the first.

Do you have any new artists that you work with now that we should look out for?

Look out for Chozen Few they are next up. The hottest rap duo in the game right now.

Look out for Lucky Don too, DJ Green Lantern been playing his records for like nine weeks straight. He’s one of the next Brownsville rappers to take over and of course Opium my right hand dude he’s from Dyckman Projects, Washington Heights aka Home of the Haze.

Do you have any shows coming up?

We heading to London soon I’m not sure when but soon and we are gonna do every club in the country.

Any last comments?

Shout out to DJ Fade and Lisa we about to be on the cover of Forbes soon. Shout out to the whole New Industry, Arkat, and all the sites that support us.
