Default 03/28/07 - Omarion AIM Interview

03/28/07 - Omarion AIM Interview

CannonInMusic: Hey- whatsup!
CannonInMusic: Is this the cool 'Ice box' dude that still manages to keep the ladies sweating?
Omarion2107: yeah it's me lol
CannonInMusic: lol
CannonInMusic: What it is O?
CannonInMusic: What's happening partner?
Omarion2107: what's up man? I'm just hanging out right now
Omarion2107: getting ready to head to the UK soon
CannonInMusic: Oh, is that right?
CannonInMusic: Promoting the banger '21' out there?
Omarion2107: yeah, I gotta go see my fans overseas
Omarion2107: they are really showing love right now
CannonInMusic: That's whatsup
Omarion2107: I just recently went to japan too
CannonInMusic: Traveling the world - I hear that dude
CannonInMusic: Do you think that's the best part about being famous?
Omarion2107: yea. long, long flights lol
CannonInMusic: I could imagine. The longest I've been on a plane is from NYC to Cali and man- that was TORTURE
Omarion2107: Yeah the flight to Japan was about 14 hrs
CannonInMusic: Whoa, you would have to knock me out for a flight like that, and then I'd be good.
Omarion2107: It's definitely a perk, I mean I don't think I would have ever been able to travel to these places if I wasn't in this industry
CannonInMusic: What you would say is your least favorite thing that comes with being in this game?
Omarion2107: probably flying lol
Omarion2107: I have sinus problems so they always act up on me while I'm flying
CannonInMusic: Oh, I got you.
CannonInMusic: I thought maybe it was a fear of flying like one of your Idols MJ had.
CannonInMusic: So let's talk about this album homie
Omarion2107: what u wanna know?
CannonInMusic: Well first off, I wanna tell you it's pretty fire, if I must say so myself
Omarion2107: THANKS....yeah i put lots of heart and soul into it
CannonInMusic: Was there a particular feel you were going for with this album?
Omarion2107: i felt, because none of my albums ever showcased the music that i was influenced by
Omarion2107: like James Brown, Michael Jackson and others
Omarion2107: That was the feel I wanted to go for during the creation of this album
Omarion2107: u know, timeless music
CannonInMusic: Like, what inspired the title, the records, etc? And what do you want the listeners to get from it?
Omarion2107: the title "21" was inspired by my age at the time
Omarion2107: I wanted the fans to just really appreciate the music and love it
CannonInMusic: Well, I think mission accomplished
Omarion2107: THANKS...
CannonInMusic: What would you say your favorite song is off of this project?
Omarion2107: Every song on this album means a great deal to me. it is a real personal record.
Omarion2107: But I would probably say it "Do It"
Omarion2107: its one of the 8 songs I wrote on the album and I really got to tap into my storytelling ability
CannonInMusic: "Do It, do it, I gotta do it"
Omarion2107: lol...
CannonInMusic: Yeah that record is smooth
CannonInMusic: I have yet to actually get a shortie and get into what the song is expressing yet though lol
CannonInMusic: I'll keep the convo G rated, but yeah you know how it is lol
Omarion2107: lol, yea I feel you
CannonInMusic: But that's next up on the "get it on" playlist
CannonInMusic: lol
Omarion2107: lol
CannonInMusic: So man you've come a pretty long way homie. I remember seeing you in a Corn Pops commercial
Omarion2107: yea way back in the day. I've been in the industry a long time
CannonInMusic: And then going from there, to being in B2K, one of the most successful groups, and then having a great solo career
Omarion2107: Yea it's really been a blessing
CannonInMusic: What would you say is the most valuable lesson you've learned to date?
Omarion2107: I would say that the most valuable lesson has been responsibility...
Omarion2107: as you grow, you understand that this is a business u know, and it comes with a great deal of responsibility
CannonInMusic: I feel you on that. I think people just see the stardom but not the hard work and what goes on behind the scenes.
Omarion2107: Yea for sure. people aren't aware of what goes on behind the scenes
CannonInMusic: Since you've got your business game tight, could we expect any other ventures or projects from you aside from Music?
Omarion2107: yeah, i want to do something different from what's out there, like clothes, running a record company
Omarion2107: i want to have my own video game, have my own dance studios and start a performing art school
CannonInMusic: Sounds dope yo. I wish you the best of luck with executing all of your goals.
Omarion2107: thank you...
CannonInMusic: You mind if we take it a little deeper on a personal note?
Omarion2107: alright
CannonInMusic: I wanna ask you about this record you've got, 'Ice Box'
Omarion2107: what would like to know about it?
CannonInMusic: I know you've stated before that the '21' album is very personal to you, but how does that record specifically speak to you?
Omarion2107: well, it's a true story
Omarion2107: it's everything that's been going on in my life
Omarion2107: and something that I know a lot of guys go thru but don't necessary talk about it
CannonInMusic: You hit it right on the head. I think as dudes, we're not really conditioned to be that in touch with our feelings you know?
CannonInMusic: But shorties love that - I'm sure you know lol
Omarion2107: yeah i feel u
Omarion2107: it's important to not front and be honest
Omarion2107: it helps u get over faster when u face the music
CannonInMusic: So doing that record has helped you heal in sense right?
CannonInMusic: I'm sure the ladies wanna know if there's blood flowing now and not glaciers anymore in that heart of yours.
Omarion2107: hahaha naw I'm good
Omarion2107: not searching though
CannonInMusic: Oh word? You found that special shortie?
Omarion2107: naw not yet
CannonInMusic: so why not search?
Omarion2107: for me, i think u can appreciate it more when u r not looking
Omarion2107: if u see it coming, it doesn't feel as special
CannonInMusic: Yeah I agree. But considering the fact that you're so on the move and doing your thing, do you think you would have time for a real relationship?
Omarion2107: not really
Omarion2107: but truthfully, u gotta start somewhere
CannonInMusic: True
CannonInMusic: Who do you think would win in a dance battle -- you or Justin?
Omarion2107: I would lol
Omarion2107: For real
Omarion2107: Justin's my boy though
CannonInMusic: lol Should we maybe do like a Pay Per View event and see who would really get served?
Omarion2107: I take on all challengers
CannonInMusic: lol how about you up against newcomer Chris Brown on the dance battle tip?
CannonInMusic: I think that would be interesting to watch
Omarion2107: yea I'm sure it would be
CannonInMusic: The both of you have CRAZY energy and do all those flip stuff and whatnot. I'd pay top dollar for that.
CannonInMusic: So I heard you ended the feud with Bow Wow and everything's cool now?
Omarion2107: it wasn't really a feud. I mean, all friends have disagreements and that's all it was
Omarion2107: we're still boys and always will be
CannonInMusic: You're right. That's good to hear man
CannonInMusic: Where do you stand with communication with the members of your former group?
Omarion2107: were all cool
Omarion2107: i mean I'm always on the road so I don't get to talk to them too often, but we do still talk
Omarion2107: we've all matured, so there aren't any hard feelings or anything like that
CannonInMusic: Exactly. Change is a part of life and sometimes things change for the better, you know?
Omarion2107: exactly
CannonInMusic: What do you feel is the biggest misconception that people have about you?
Omarion2107: umm, I'd say probably just that I'm unapproachable
Omarion2107: a lot of people are afraid to approach me because they think I might get mad or something like that lol
CannonInMusic: lol
CannonInMusic: You never know with stars these days. Sometimes they just snap out of nowhere
Omarion2107: maybe so, but not me lol
CannonInMusic: did you see what Britney Spears did to herself?
CannonInMusic: It's just sad yo
Omarion2107: lol
CannonInMusic: Do you ever feel the pressure like that?
CannonInMusic: well obviously not like that because you still have hair on your head lol
CannonInMusic: but what do you do when and if you feel the pressure of being an artist?
Omarion2107: I don't really ever feel pressured because i accept the responsibility that comes along with the gig ya know...
CannonInMusic: What do you do to keep yourself grounded? Because you seem like a humble dude
Omarion2107: I would say in general I am just a humble guy
Omarion2107: I really appreciate everything i have experienced and I have been blessed, so it's not hard for me to remain humble
CannonInMusic: In the words of the Pimp Don "Magic" Juan, "CHURCH!"
CannonInMusic: lol
Omarion2107: lol
CannonInMusic: So what can we expect to see from Omarion this year?
Omarion2107: man it's just going to be a really big year for me.
Omarion2107: i have two movies coming out. Reaggeaton, which was produced by J Lo, and Somebody Help Me which co-stars Marques Houston as well.
Omarion2107: also I will be back on tour this summer
CannonInMusic: Okay!
CannonInMusic: Aside from your tracks, are there any albums you're bumping at the moment? If so what are they?
Omarion2107: well of course I stay listening to the timeless joints like "Off the Wall,' but I'm feeling the Tyrese album, Bow's album and Justin's too
CannonInMusic: Yessir. MJ's albums will always be classic!
Omarion2107: yessir
CannonInMusic: What did you think about his comeback?
Omarion2107: I think when u have been as successful as him, there is no such thing as a comeback because his music has never left ya know?
CannonInMusic: I agree
CannonInMusic: how would you react if he asked you to collaborate on his next CD?
Omarion2107: I would definitely take him up on that opportunity
Omarion2107: I mean how can you say no?
CannonInMusic: Yeah of course. That dude made HISTORY.
Omarion2107: yessir
CannonInMusic: So you just had a birthday recently and made 22, right?
Omarion2107: yes I'm 22 now
CannonInMusic: Where would you like to see yourself ideally by age 30?
Omarion2107: umm by 30 i would like to still be doing what I love but also have successfully ventured into the other business we talked about earlier.
CannonInMusic: Still plan to be a bachelor @ 30?
CannonInMusic: Hey it's the new 20 as Hov says
Omarion2107: Um I don't know lol
Omarion2107: we'll have to see what happens
CannonInMusic: Top 3 list of the finest, most BADDEST ladies in your opinion. Go.....
Omarion2107: um i gotta think...one sec
Omarion2107: man that's hard so many ladies to choose from
Omarion2107: umm, umm
CannonInMusic: lol I feel you
Omarion2107: Halle Berry is def in there maybe
Omarion2107: Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez. three beautiful successful women
CannonInMusic: Good choices!
Omarion2107: THANKS
CannonInMusic: Alright homie, I know you probably gotta get ready to take that flight out.
CannonInMusic: Is there anything else you'd like to say to the fans who may be reading this?
Omarion2107: Yea...i wanna thank everyone for the love and support. I wouldn't be here without ya'll... If you haven't bought the album go do that you wont be disappointed.
CannonInMusic: Yeah y'all won't!
CannonInMusic: Yo O, I appreciate you taking the time out from traveling the World to chat with me and the AOL world.
Omarion2107: not a problem. anytime. Thank you for having me
CannonInMusic: No doubt homie. I wish you continued success. You gotta stop by and kick it with us here in the office the next CD you finish
CannonInMusic: And by the way, my lil sister really admires what you put out and appreciates you in general, so you've got her support forever lol
Omarion2107: no doubt, and tell your sister I said thank you from the bottom of my heart
CannonInMusic: She'll be glad to hear that from you
CannonInMusic: Yo have a safe flight and be easy my dude

Cannon is listening to his 'Get It On' playlist while organizing the Pay-Per View Dance-Off, where he will step in to help Omarion "take on all challengers".
