Part of Young Buck Interview with Rap Fanatic Magazine
Young Buck ![]() What can we expect from your new album, 'Buck the World'? The streets know what it is. I'm back with it 'bruh! We ain't never went anywhere as a crew. I know I've kept my presence alive, real strong though other records like, T.I., Jeezy, etc. There're a lot of different artists who I affiliate myself with but…it's my time! With this record, you can expect the same street music that you got from my last one but you're gonna get a little more features and you get better production! I stretched out and worked with Dr. Dre, Eminem came through, Jazzy Phe, you got D.J. Paul, Hi-Tek is on the album; a lot of different producers. Even outside of that, I got so many features that I had to combine a lot of them-like the 'Four Kings' record I got with B.G., T.I., and Pimp C. I got a song with me and Snoop Dog, and Trick Daddy together. I got one with me, Bun B, and 8 Ball & MJG together. I got me and Linkin Park 'bruh! So I ain't really playing with them with this album. Young Buck and Linkin Park? I don't think anyone saw that one coming. What made you decide to collaborate with them? I really liked their music; I can really identify with it. I had a record that was real deep and I wanted to diversify the record. I felt like with them being conscious of Hip Hop, they were the perfect group for me to holler at - and they were fans of my music! I couldn't believe it. Actually, for me, I think it's the best record on my album. I brought them to the hood; I brought them to my world. Nigga, you know how I get down with this shit! They f**ked with it from that end so I was like, yeah man! That sounds like it could be a hot video. Is that the plan? That's my third single! Absolutely! Ok. Now, Lloyd Bank's and Mobb Deep's albums didn't exactly sell to their expectations. Was that a concern of yours when you were making your album? You know what it is? I think we gotta a lot of the flak over the album sales at G-Unit because we set the standard so high. You get a nigga like 50 Cent who done sold over 10 million, then my shit almost hit double, Banks almost hit double, then the minute Yayo comes out it's like, 'oh shit!' Then when Mobb Deep followed and didn't do what was expected… so what I'm saying is that a lot of people aren't aware that Hip Hop has taken a fall in sales, overall. It ain't just G-Unit. A lot of artists have come out and didn't get the numbers that they're used to getting that first week due to the downloading and everything else that they got going on. For me, I think I embedded myself with the streets 'bruh. The streets feel like I deserve more than I got or…a lot of people feel like I don't get exactly what I deserve out of G-Unit. Just on that note, they stay so much in touch with me, and I deliver what they want. I'm longevity my nigga! I don't make music based on record sales; I do it for the passion and the love from the shows. The money is good but I love this shit for real. That's real. You got your own label, Cashville Records. Who can we look forward to on that side of things? I signed C Bo, I got the Outlawz- we're finishing those negotiations and getting our thing going. I got another group called 615. That group consists of: myself, a cat by the name of D-Tay, Lil Murder, and Hi-C. I got a roster. I'm not sure which one is coming first but I got a hell of a crew, man, and I'm coming! You made news lately, again, when it was reported that you assaulted DJ Will from Atlanta's Hot 107.9 for playing Game's 'It's Okay (One Blood)' single while you were at the radio station. It was also reported that the Core DJs (an organization of influential DJs) banned you from their playlists. How much of what was reported was true? Actually, that situation got ironed out. It didn't go nothing like the way it was projected. I didn't respond to that sh*t like that 'cause I knew the truth was gonna come out…and it did! And once the truth got over…even Will stretched out in working it out. Everything is good on that end. The Core DJs were the first ones to show me love; shout out to Tony Mills who stretched out first and explained to me that he had reliable sources that were there that know that it didn't happen that way. He invited me to a big Core DJ party in Milwaukee and I came through and they showed me a lot of love. From there, it just ironed itself on out. Right now, at this point, everything is looking %100. That's what's up. Over the years, you kept your frustrations with your previous situation with Cash Money on the low. Recently though, you aired out Lil' Wayne and Baby, on-air, and declared war on them. What made you decide that it was time to air out? I just spoke the truth when they asked me a question. I don't have beef with them niggas and I wasn't trying to create no beef. It's just when I'm asked certain questions…I'm a truthful nigga with this sh*t; I got nothing to hide. I speak the way I got it. That's the way it came out and that's the way it went. Baby and Wayne came to my city for a show and I popped up…just to see if it was anything from that level and it wasn't. So we left on an even note. That's how I'm doing with all these niggas that had "so called" situations with G-Unit and it ain't that. Nah, you won't get no diss on my album against Game, Jadakiss, or none of them niggas 'bruh. I done learned one thing out of these niggas: if you know I don't like a m**herf**ker and I know I don't like a m**herf**ker, who else knows?! The m**herf**kin' police, man! That's the game they play with Buck 'cause of the report card that follows me. They know it's real. Rappin' on those records and being a nigga who, if comes to it, it might get to that for real…I said let me wake up and wise up on that end. I'm with it, man. I have no choice to be with it 'cause I have a little girl to raise. I'm dealing with niggas who really ain't got love so…you know how to play it. Source: Rap Fanatic Magazine
