AZNRaps: What up Jin, the last time we interviewed you, you just released the Emcee’s Properganda. How’ve you been?

Jin: I’ve been doing a lot of traveling. Working. Growing up. Living life. I can’t complain!
AZNRaps: So the new CD “ABC” just dropped.What made you want to put out this CD?
Jin: Early in my career I’ve always been asked if I would ever record a album in Cantonese. At the time, it was never really on my mind like that. Fast forward to the end of 2006 and here you have the ABC album completed.
AZNRaps: I noticed you had a TVB logo on the cover. What’s your favorite TVB series of all time?
Jin: Life Force.
AZNRaps: On the notes inside of the CD, you said “I hope this project inspires you as you walk down the path to discovering who you are as an individual”. Growing up, did you ever feel you had trouble discovering yourself as an ABC (American Born Chinese).

Jin: I don’t think I ever had difficulty discovering myself and it shows on the ABC album. As for role models, the best ones were right under the same roof as me: My mom and dad.
AZNRaps: The production on this album was completely done by the Far East Movement with assistance by Bionik. What happened to Goldenchild, who produced the beats on “Emcee’s Properganda”?

Jin: I believe he’s currently in college. When he’s ready, Properganda Pt. 2 possibly?
AZNRaps: This is your third straight independent release. What’s going on with the Ruff Ryders situation? Are there any plans to release another CD with them?

Jin: The Ruff Ryders situation basically wasn’t working out for neither parties so we decided the best thing was to part ways.
AZNRaps: Did Jermaine Dupri being President of Virgin records have anything to do with the sub-par performance of the first album’s sales? Now that he’s left them, does that enable you to make any new moves over there?

Jin: I’m proud of the “sub-par” 200,000 copies sold lol. Actually, when The Rest Is History dropped Jermaine was nowhere near Virgin yet. I’m no longer on Virgin, so him being there now doesn’t really have anything to do with the moves I make.
AZNRaps: Let’s talk about Puerto Rico. The last two years you’ve won a total of $100,000 in the big tournament over there, and you nicknamed yourself Hundred Grand Jin. Are you going to become Hundred Fifty Grand Jin in 2007?

Jin: The DJs nicknamed me 100 Grand Jin. As for a third title, they didn’t do the battle in ’06 so I don’t believe they’ll do one in ’07. The ones I won were in ’04 and ’05.
AZNRaps: Are you still beefin’ with Serius Jones or Sun.NY?
Jin: That definitely wasn’t beef.
AZNRaps: You dissed Rosie O’donnell on a recent song. Was that all in fun, or did you have real ill feelings towards her? Have you gotten any response from Rosie?

Jin: I wouldn’t bother wasting a second talking about her.
AZNRaps: Hypothetically, say you were to sell a million records in Hong Kong. Would we see more releases like ABC, or is this just one of those things you had to do artistically?

Jin: It definitely was a more personal project that I just wanted to see come to life.
AZNRaps: Do you believe there’s any major money for an Asian American artist in America?

Jin: There’s money. Nothing’s holding anybody back. You just gotta go out there and make it happen.
