Default Big Tuck - Mount Up

Big Tuck - Mount Up

Dirty South Rydaz front man Big Tuck attempts a transition from indie powerhouse to potential major contender with his Universal/Motown debut ‘The Absolute Truth.’ Originally set for a Spring release, the album was pushed back to the fourth quarter among giant company releases like Jay-Z’s ‘Kingdom Come’ and The Game’s ‘The Doctor’s Advocate.’ However, being on the shelf with legends and super sophomores isn’t likely to cloud this Dallas native’s dream of placing DSR at the forefront of the dirty south’s popular hip hop reign.

He learned the hustle of music biz pumping his indie mixtape albums from the trunk across the country and years earlier absorbed the intricacies of creating rhythm at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. If a debut is supposed to be a snapshot of one’s whole life then ‘The Absolute Truth’ may be one jazzy flick. Tuck hooked up with NBS via the net to talk about his album delays, why he’s the truth and why Jay-Z’s un-retirement, according to him, means nothing to the southern movement.

Nobodysmiling.com : When we spoke last spring you said the album was pretty much done. What has been the hold up?

Big Tuck : Universal and TtownMusic wanted more set up time by setting the new singles in the markets; "I Know u Want That" featuring Chamillionaire and Tumtum and "Ain’t No Mistaken" featuring Eryka Badu.

Nobodysmiling.com : Do you feel like Universal/Motown is strongly dedicated to promoting 'The Absolute Truth?'

Big Tuck : All I know is T-town-Music is working endlessly!

Nobodysmiling.com : What gives you that impression, either way?

Big Tuck : We grinders not criers, we know we got to work, so we don’t stop!!

Nobodysmiling.com : Your project conveys the 'Absolute Truth' about what exactly?

Big Tuck : My thing is my swagger, style, and music the truth.

Nobodysmiling.com : Are you saying that you are the truth?

Big Tuck : Definitely!!!!!

Nobodysmiling.com : Why stick with "Big" as a name? There are so many "Bigs," "Lils," and "Youngs" in the game now.

Big Tuck :: Everything is Big in Texas anyway.

Nobodysmiling.com : How is what Big Tuck is bringing to the table any different from the crunk and snap music on the market right now?

Big Tuck : I bring a street southern flava of style to what they bring to snap & crunk in there style.

Nobodysmiling.com : Are there any songs done with live instruments on the album, given your musical background?

Big Tuck : Naw I'm saving that for the next album, so people can view my side of an artist first.

Nobodysmiling.com : Do you rock with a band at your live shows?

Big Tuck : NO!

Nobodysmiling.com : How do you feel Jay-Z's return will impact the southern Hip Hop movement, if at all?

Big Tuck : I feel that shit doesn’t have anything to do with us in Texas. We’ve always had our own style.

Nobodysmiling.com : He does shout-out Bun and Pimp C on "Kingdom Come."

Big Tuck : That's because the music industry respects the south.

Nobodysmiling.com : What would you like to say to the people Tuck?

Big Tuck : Tune in to the album on Dec.12th go to
